Dreams of the Deadly: A Dark Mafia Romance (Massacred Dreams Book 1) Kindle Edition
They took her from me.
Now I’ll take everything from them.
I was never meant to fall in love with her.
We were children when they betrothed us—an obligation I didn’t want.
Before long, her amber eyes had pierced right through me,
transforming my indifference into gentle devotion.
Then, they stole her from me—banished me from my home and robbed her of my protection.
They damaged her in my absence, and the girl I cared for hardened into a woman I cannot resist.
I’ve bided my time, amassing my strength; now none who stand in my way will survive.
The time has come to take back my kingdom.
The time has come to make Thalia mine.Author's note: Massacred Dreams is a dark mafia romance duet with elements that may be triggering to some readers.

Adelaide Forrest totally knocks another one out of the park with Dreams of the Deadly. This is the first book in the Massacred Dreams series which included the previously release story prologue. It is told in first person, from dual perspective and DOES end on a cliffhanger. Calix and Thalia were promised to each other as children and he vowed to always be there for her. When his father was driven away in shame for having an affair with Thalia's mother, Thalia thought her protector had abandoned her to the wolves. Little did she know that Calix has been next level stalking and protecting her from the shadows while he slowly built up the power to both secure Thalia as well as the keys to their future kingdom.

Fracking A! I swear this book has every 👏🏼 single 👏🏼 thing 👏🏼 I love about dark mafia romances! A great storyline that moves quickly and has tons of twists, turns, and newly uncovered secrets to keep you hooked to the end. Fantastic characters! Calix is the hero that we all want to see when we pick up an Adelaide Forrest read - or any dark romance read. He's over the top jealous and possessive, completely obsessed and has been since they were kids, and he will literally burn her enemies to the ground and give her their heads. There is no line he won't cross and he brings his manipulation A game, lol. Thalia is also everything I love to see in a heroine. Not a pushover, kinda angry, but has a gooey inside for the people who are important to her. Life has taught her to not trust easily and she totally makes Calix work for it. The chemistry is fantastic and their smexy times will light your kindle up. Super ramped up to read the conclusion of their story!!
I have been impatiently waiting for Callix and Thalia’s story ever since I read the first chunk of the teaser and I can honestly say it did disappoint.
Thalia was betrothed to Callix as a child but something happens and changes both their lives. On her wedding day she is to marry a different mafia leader but that all changes when the boy from her past shows up.
I love Callixms devotion from the very beginning and he is just as obsessed as Raphael but not as crazy. But you can see him being good friends with both Rafael and Ryker which is fun because they are all crazy Mo-Fos.

The female lead has no control over her life, from what she wears, when she’s allowed to use the bathroom, showering herself, what she eats and if she’s allowed to take birth control (she’s not) is all decided by the male protagonist. He repeatedly claims her as “his” and gives her no say whatsoever in her own life.
How an author can feel good about putting the horrors of an abusive relationship into a “romantic/sexy” narrative is utterly beyond me.
Nevermind that the writing is clunky, the story unimaginative and the characters as flat as a pancake.
If I could give it zero stars I would.
You should read this if you like:
- Dark mafia romance
- Possessive alpha males
- Strong FMCs
- Touch her and you die vibes
- Obsessed heroes
- Hand necklaces
- Lot's of spice
5/5 stars. I LOVED this book so much!
Everything about this story was well done in my opinion. We start this story when Thalia is 5 and Calix is 13 years old and I loved seeing how their relationship started. Calix saw in Thalia how much in need of protection she was from her father and he tried everything he could, he was even willing to die to protect her. And all of this was coming from a place of protectiveness, not because she would be his future wife but because she was a little girl and she didn’t deserve the cruel life she was living.
Needless to say that I hate Thalia’s father with a passion, he was truly a monster overall not just to his own daughter.
The circumstances that led to Calix just vanishing from Thalia’s life were definitely unfortunate.
The way Thalia survived all the horrible things done to her and the way Calix brought her out of this shell of a life she lived was beautiful. She became the women she was meant to be and be a Warrior and a Queen. I honestly can’t wait for part two although I must admit she already acted like a queen at the end of this one .
I loved Calix and Thalia together and how they work together towards the same goal.
Calix is so thoughtful, caring and protective but also fierce and very assertive. He also does these small gestures that are so big in the grand scheme of things… I just
I loved them together.
Sexy times y’all were amazing 🥵💦🦋
I honestly can’t wait for part two and seeing them being treated as they deserve, as King and Queen.
