When Taylor's boyfriend dies, the last thing she wants to hear about is hockey, which is understandable since he was a hockey player. By blaming her favorite sport for the loss of her boyfriend, Taylor loses a piece of herself. Well, actually a large chunk.
When her dad gets a new job, it takes her away from all those painful memories and closer to Josh. Josh is the type of person who will be there for anyone in need and that includes Taylor. Josh wants to help pull her out of the slump she's in and they only grow closer and closer.
The biggest challenge they face is that Josh is also a hockey player. But can he help her remember how much she loves it?
This was probably my favorite of the series and fans of romance shouldn't miss out on it.
Taylor is a perfect YA heroine with plenty of baggage and a broken heart that has made her cut all ties with her favorite sport, hockey. Struggling to move on with her life after the tragic loss of her first love, she pushes away her family and distances herself from her friends and life in general, unable to let go of the memories, even though they are clearly hurting her. Meeting a guy and starting to feel something other than sadness again is just the beginning of a long road back.
Josh is a typical YA hero with the looks and the talent and the money and the apparently perfect life, but he has family issues and not much else he cares about outside of his passion: hockey. I’ve always been jealous of those who knew what they wanted to do already as a child, but now I’m not so sure anymore. His struggles really made me think.
I liked the interactions between the two main characters and with the “supporting cast”; it was very realistic and felt age appropriate. The depictions of grief are very realistic and believable. The dialogue was perhaps a bit sparse, but I felt the characters and their connection, and even though I put the book down a few times when editing issues got on my nerves or when I just felt too old for the teen drama, I kept picking it up again. I liked the ending, and both laughed and cried (mostly cried) on my way there. 5 kleenexes out of 5! :-)
Taylor is done with hockey, despite being a fan of the game since birth. Being the daughter of an NHL coach, she has the game in her blood. Why, then? Her boyfriend, a promising prospect, died on the ice, and Taylor has yet to pick up the pieces of her shredded heart.
A year later, she makes the acquaintance of Josh, another promising prospect, in a chance encounter. The two clearly connect, but Taylor refuses to be drawn into that world again, especially with the tragedy still so fresh in her mind.
Michelle Lynn's main female characters tend to be psychologically deficient, broken even, and they inevitably find the guy who will make them whole again. But the road to recovery is often a bumpy one, fraught with obstacles, and in Dreams, it's not only Taylor that has to deal with her lingering grief, but Josh as well, when something comes along and threatens to take away the one thing in the world that gives him identity: hockey.
In the end, the story is about two people who need each other more than they even realize. While her stories' endings tend to be happy, they always come at some cost, and I truly admire that about her writing. Love is beautiful, and life is ugly, and you can't have one without the other.
This is one of those books that really gets to you because of what Michelle has written about. Death isn't an easy subject to cover but Michelle really writes it so well. You can really imagine how Taylor feels and how unhinged she becomes, she is such a lost soul looking for help but not knowing how our where to find it. She hates feeling the way she does and how she's pushing everyone away, all she can think of is Danny when she sees their friends, how can they move on when she can't, not when everything she does reminds her of him.
I loved the previous 2 books and she links them all in together so well, she weaves them through the pages but making it that you can read it as a stand alone too.
I love these characters because they have grown with the series and you see how things have carried on in their lives too which just adds that bit more to the book. I loved Jason and Michaela from the first series so having them grow so much is beautiful, it's more like seeing your long lost family after years of being apart. You see Josh and his brother Ethan and what had happened to them.
This series is brilliant and I would recommend it to anyone that loves a great romance but more a brilliant storyline.
Michelle never ceases to amaze me with the books she writes she has such a way of writing that you know she's put everything into the book, her heart and soul are laid out for all to read, through every word and turn of a page.
I will definitely be re reading this series it's so personal and I love the fact that you feel part of it as you read it, you get absorbed into it.
I can't wait to read more from her and I know she will go far, she is an author to look out for.
