About the Author

Chrystalla is Greek Cypriot (hence the strange name) and likes writing about bratty, angsty boys and spunky girls in fantasy and science-fiction worlds. She writes mainly for a young adult public but not only (heed the warnings!)
She's currently preparing a non-fiction book about dragons, because the truth must out, and is juggling two series ("Elei's Chronicles" and "Boreal and John Grey").

Three short reads from a master story teller. With an impressive economy of words, I was drawn into vibrant imaginative worlds, each with a powerful story I won't forget. The characters are so real, the colorful settings so vivid, and despite how heart wrenching, the endings fit perfectly. I'll be re-reading these.

Finding an author...a relatively new author who can peek your imagination enough to grab their work while inching your way through the deep ocean of new authors is sometimes nothing more than grabbing onto a capricious FLIGHT OF it was when I Ladybug Lin one of the two reviewers at THE HOT SEAT REVIEWS...found DREAMWATER...3 Fantastical Tales by Chrystalla Thoma.

I WILL admit I LOVED the boldness of the cover so must HIGHLY commend Ms. Thoma's cover artist as well.

Unless the author is someone I voraciously read to the point I can tell YOU a year ahead of time when that author's next book is coming out, I don't usually buy compilations, reprints, or collections...but again, the cover drew me in like a magnet draws in metal I grabbed....and sat down to read story one INDRA'S RETURN

WOW!!!! I found myself overwhelmingly surprised and pleased.

Ms. Thoma knows how to create shockers.

You think you know where the story is taking you...but be prepared for a lot of shocking revelations that will make your eyes bulge, your mind catapult, and a grin as wide as the Grand Canyon stretch across your face from ear-to-ear.

Just when you realize your face is still BEAMING you look down at your hands and have TWO more stories to read...HALLELUJAH...right there in your e-reader.

Therefore, and with much ease of forethought I award Ms. Thoma and DREAMWATER

FOUR AND A HALF Sated Stars. My only wish is she'd made them LONGER...yep...they're THAT good.

Well Done, Ms. Thoma.

I have become increasingly in love with Thoma's stories! When I first started reading, I was worried that the characters and plots would be cliche (especially with the introduction of the angsty elf). However, she certainly proved me wrong quickly. Despite being short stories, she does a wonderful job making the characters realistic and fascinating. All of the main characters had inner conflicts which gets resolved quite neatly. The plot and the "world" in each story is original and well-written. The third story is the longest but the first two are my favorites because it was just so unexpected.

I found nothing particularly bad about the stories. At most, the stories felt too short (which is expected since, duh, they ARE short stories). They were long enough to get you hooked but not enough for you to feel satisfied.

Pro: Interesting world and realistic characters, nice twists
Con?: too short

Overall, I would recommend this book to any fantasy fan who's ready to experiment and try a new author. I'm unsure if this book is actually worth the price since it's short enough to be done in an hour. I will just have to leave it to you. If you find this book enjoyable then you will certainly love her other book "Rex Rising". I know I did!
