What type of fuel should be used with the Versatip?
The Versatip takes standard butane fuel that is available in most grocery chains, hardware stores, and home centers.
How long will the Versatip’s torch burn before requiring refueling?
Exact run times will vary based on use. The run-time of any Dremel tool is highly dependent on a number of different factors, including the size of the flame. The run time will be considerably longer running the tool on a low flame.
The VersaTip isn’t igniting, what’s the recommended way to light it?
Make sure the Flame Guard is activated on the tool. It will not light without the Flame Guard in the correct position.

Very disappointing as I finally found a soldering iron that worked good and lasted a long time.
The difference between this product, the VersaTip, and Dremel's other product in this category the VersaFlame is the VersaTip is more suited for jobs that need more accuracy and fine control such as soldering and pyrography. The VersaTip comes with more accessories; a cutting knife, shaping knife, hot air tip, and wide blower tip that the VersaFlame does not come with. The VersaFlame comes with a blower instead of the wide blower the VersaTip comes with. The VersaFlame is larger and uses a different flame head. The flame head on the VersaFlame does not not require disassembly to add the solder tip attachments where the VersaTip requires unscrewing the cage around the flame tip and adding in a metal threaded tube to accept the solder tip but this is not a big deal. The VersaFlame does require the use of a Philips screwdriver to use the blower accessory.
The one thing that really bothers me with this product is the case, its big, terrible, and thin metal that just gets bent and mangled. The case has no way to seal the lid closed so if you put it in a tool bag the lid just falls off and all the accessories fall out. I use a big rubber band around the case to keep the cover on, I do wonder if I would have been better off buying one of the competitors products which are almost the same product and are most likely being manufactured by the same company. Other very similar products
Blazer SI-100CR Excalibur Multi-Purpose Butane Torch and Hot Air Soldering Kit
Power Probe PPSK Butane Soldering Kit
both have a much better case design that locks closed.
The top lever is an igniter, once the flame is started the top blue switch to lock the flame on. The blue slider operates flame size. When using the solder tip you have to be very careful to point the exhaust exit hole in the tip away from you as it will quickly burn you if it blows on your finger.
I have seen online testing to determine how long the VersaTip lasts on a full charge of butane, it seems to be in real world operation around 65 min on lowest flame setting and 45 min on the highest flame setting.
This product comes empty and with no fuel so make sure to buy butane refill canisters if you do not already have some.
It was nice to have an item (specifically, a speciality tool with accessories) arrived with its own carrycase! A DECENT aluminum box, not plastic!
The butane gas supply last a good long while as well, even on high. But make sure you have an extra butane refill cartridge or two handy.
I first used this to solder some wires underneath my vehicle dash board– which is VERY tightly contained! I realized the soldering iron runs VERY HOT and you can't turn it down any further. The key is to be quick! Short duration solder touches or you'll melt the protective sheathing right off the wires!
I used the heat blower attachment to heat shrink said soldered wires and it did an excellent job with both tasks! Again, work as quickly with this soldering iron attachment as you can safely manage. It will easily ruin anything it comes in contact with for long durations. (.05 to 2 seconds, TOPS!).
Additionally, I used the hot air blower on a rusted nut and it unfroze that thing in no time at all! It works great for that and everything else I tried! This tool is well worth the money!
The gas supply last a good long while as well, even on high. But make sure you have an extra butane refill cartridge laying around somewhere . sure to have a spare butane refill handy!
My favorite and most notable part of this review is this thing actually comes with its own carry case! (An aluminum box).
It should last a very long time assuming it's cared for properly.
I never understood how any tool company could sell a tool with its accessories, without SOME KIND or case!
To me, that is inexcusable!
So Dremel wins a 5 stars review for a quality item WITH its own carry case!
Worth every penny and highly recommend!

I use these soldering irons a lot. I bought the pen for soldering, and the stand-up version for heat shrink.
Its very fuel efficient and I use Ronson fuel as I get a clean, hot flame.
It comes with a lot of accessories, and in a good case.
Will buy more from Amazon again because of price, the extended warranty, and fast delivery.
Saludos
