I don't know why, since I did check the measurements, but I was visualizing something bigger. This could pass for a large purse. The compact size is more streamlined, and it's exactly what I needed to carry the basics like padfolio, wallet, phone etc. for job interviews (could also fit a laptop). If that's what you need, you're set - it's minimalist and good for when you want to look polished. I just wouldn't get this expecting to use it for the gym or a weekend trip. It's not that kind of tote.
Another reviewer said the faux pebbled leather texture looked the highest quality, so that's what I chose. I'm grateful for their insight and totally agree. I was nervous it would look super cheapo, given the very low price, but in person it looks much more expensive than it is. (Love it when that happens!)
The construction quality is impressive, and despite arriving folded, it doesn't have any creasing. One major benefit to buying here vs. in a store is that instead of being limited to the standard black or random neutrals, they have a zillion colors and textures, so you can get a few and switch them out.
It's an interesting design - narrower at the top but then has a flat bottom with more space. There's also a pocket inside. It comes with a decorative tassel to jazz it up, and a surprisingly cute and versatile strip of scarf they include as an option. Normally the scarf-on-bag-handle isn't my thing, but here it somehow looks good. This is a great choice if you're looking for a simple bag to take to work.

It’s an amazing bag
The only problem I have with this bag is that I thought it was a little bit bigger because I like big bags but apart from that, It is simply and truly a great bag. Material is great and all.

If I had to be picky, I would carry this even more if it had that sleeve for traveling with a rolling suitcase.

I have been carrying this bag as a daily bag for FOUR YEARS. This was an impulse purchase in a color that I typically would never go for, but I had a couple of extra bucks, and I have gotten WAY MORE than my moneys’s worth. I have carried laptops, bulky books, pens, anything you could imagine- truly, some heavy stuff. And it’s still going. There’s a little wear on the edges, but no one seems to notice because I STILL get compliments. After four years, I just ordered one in a different color. For fun.
