Hey so,
I would like to approach a few of the 1 star reviews...
If you research butterfly pea flower you will learn that it is mostly if not only curated in Thailand. And the reason that it is listed as organic is because currently you can not cultivate butterfly pea flowers just any where and they do not withstand a lot of pesticides, or really any growing practices other than their natural environment; so they are typically foraged or harvested vs. cultivated. It is important to know the difference. With foraged/harvested foods you have to give room and forgiveness for impurities,
Yes you might find a bug, or a hair, but you will also find vibrant colors, that will even change colors naturally in relation to the ph level of the liquid. All without artificial colors, flavors or additives.
With cultivated foods, their sole job is to give you a consistent, clean product so if they don’t, complain away!!
But foragers give you what you they find. So you have to cut them a bit of slack.

Yes, the tea doesn’t taste that great by it’s self
It has a slightly sour, floral taste.
Kind of think of chewing a lemon rind while a smelling a bowl of potpourri, it’s not great.
But a bit of honey and a bit of lemon you have a delightful tea that tastes nice and changes color which adds a lot to the experience of the tea.
Or being a bartender, mix gin, simple syrup, pea flower tea together with ice and soda, then float lemon juice over the top and serve with something to stir it with and just sit back watch the magic in people’s eyes happen.

The tea: The quality of the dried flowers is excellent and they not only make the blue color changing tea, but the flowers themselves are attractive so they show well. I didn't notice any distinct flavor to the tea in my first sample, but I had put in lemon to test the color changing properties and added honey. There's not much else I can say at this point, but I'll be looking for a recipe where I can apply this as a coloring agent.

*I'm going to attach a cheesy video I had posted for my facebook friends. It shows the color of the tea and the color changing. I did it as a quick thing in between a lot of other errands and chores so if you want a high quality video, skip it ;)

Good things come to those who wait 🙂 I ordered a pkg of these dried Butterfly Pea flowers last (Dec 2016). My earliest expected arrival date was Jan 24th. I trusted a reviewer who said the quality is worth the wait of international shipping. Thank you Reviewer, you were right! They arrived yesterday, on January 10th. The seller sent a nice email, just touching base, a couple of weeks after I ordered. The quality is A+ (look handpicked), well packaged with a couple brew recipes included. There's really not much flavor at all but OHHH the colors (antioxidants)! They can range from its natural brilliant blue to shades of pinks and purples too if you add acidity such as lemon juice.

**Oct 2017 update**
Usually it's "You get what you pay for." Not the case here. Truly under-priced, no shipping charged, high quality product, very consistent.
I reordered and couldn't be happier with this 2nd shipment. Seriously, you send well under $5 (per 50g), a few days later an email comes, then just kind of forget about it. Several weeks later a surprise shows up in the mail! This time I ordered 4 bags. All were chock full. Even though I packed my half gallon Ball jar I could only fit 3 of the 50g pkgs. Best price I've found on the internet BY FAR. Here are some other ways I've gotten the Butterfly Pea's antioxidants into my diet. Since it's basically tasteless I've colored filtered water, dairy milk, coconut and other nut milks, and soy milk. Have used them to make very pretty homemade ice creams, yogurts, coconut rice and more.
For size reference in my photos- The pitcher is 68 ozs (7 flowers colored that amount) and the jar is 64 oz/half gal (150g/3 pkgs).

Allergy warning to pollen on package!

There is a pollen allergy warning on package. I didn’t I would have much of a reaction. I made a cup of tea with about 12 blossoms, the taste was okay. I took just a small sip. A couple of minutes later, my chest tightened and it was harder to breathe. I got a pressure in my head as well. After about 10-15 minutes I took another sip and my reaction intensified. My mouth also started itching. If you are allergic to pollen, do not purchase this item.

Intense blue color and pleasant but light taste

This is a high-quality product, not some old washed-out stuff. For my first batch, I filled up the steeping basket as I do for hibiscus tea. (Incidentally, that's a great tea to combine with this!) The color was so intense that I had to dilute it! This is important to me, since it's going to be much more economical to use less of the product for a very pretty result. Granted, the tea is not very strong-tasting, but it is pleasantly reminiscent of green beans. The tea is supposed to be beneficial for eye and brain health, so taste isn't what people usually buy this for. It makes a very pretty purple iced tea when mixed with hibiscus or with added lemon. It would be worthwhile just as a novelty, but as blue flowers contain lutein, this is going to be a staple in our household now. Expect it to take a few weeks to ship, so order earlier than you need it.

PROS: ❤️The package came about a week later than expected. BUT!! The colour is so gorgeous, exactly as I’ve seen on any video I’ve watches about the dried flowers.
The steeped flowers taste like peas from a vine but very mild and sweet!💙😍 the tea flavour is barely floral, which I love. It’s incredibly pleasant on all front and vercitile for so many recipes. I could easily turn this into a warm drink for a cold Canadian day or a magical cold summer tea.

- said to be a family own business. There was a letter in the package stating that this is a father, mother, daughter team who pick the flowers and ship them. I happy to support this, but I am planning on contacting them about their methods of dehydration and the menthod of gathering the flowers. I would not want to support anything unethical.
- Is the family being well compensated for my dollar?
- the flowers arrive is a clear plastic bag, I wish there was a better way of preserving the flower. They were kind of crushed when they arrived. Either harder packaging or more (sustainable/green) padding.

Spectacular! Like most people, I saw some videos of the tea on youtube and I knew I had to try it! After reading some of the other (quite frankly, over critical) reviews of this product I expected it to take forever to arrive but it came within a week or two, much quicker than i expected. True the packaging isn't the best (basically a clear, vacuum sealed plastic bag) but that just adds to the charm. A letter inside said that it was a family owned business, just the 3 of them picking the flowers and sending them out. Who doesn't want to support small, family run businesses?

The product itself is perfect and much better than I expected. You really only need a tiny amount of this product - a small amount, less than half a tea spoon, will create over a liter of vivid blue tea. This small package will last you a long, long time! The colour really is outstanding, electric blue with a deep, almost neon glow to it. It looks other worldly! The taste is incredibly mild - a slight earthy taste. Very, very slight - it's almost flavorless. It also has a slightly sweet aftertaste. Again, you have to look for the flavour and if it wasn't for the bright colour, you could easily mistake it for regular water.

I like to have a glass of cold water, put a metal tea strainer on the top and then pour a little boiling water over the flowers. Cold water stays at the bottom and because hot water rises, the brilliant colour seeps out into the water below. It looks amazing. Don't forget, the colour only comes out in very hot water.

If you are on the fence about buying this product, don't be. Get off the fence and just buy it. It's only 6 bucks, its family owned and it's every bit as good as the videos you've watched on youtube. You will have a ton of fun messing about with this tea. I imagine kids would LOVE making this tea. It's a great way to get them to drink more water! It has more antioxidants than green tea! Plus a bunch of cancer fighting phenols - so its definitely better getting the kids to drink this rather than the fizzy junk soft drinks like coke.

Just buy this stuff, you'll love it.

P.s don't forget to add a splash of lemon juice to turn it into a vivid purple color!

As noted by others, it took a while to arrive but when it's coming from across the world that is no surprise. The package said 50g and my kitchen scale said 48g, so the amount is accurate. The dried blossoms were intact and a pinch of them turned a mug of hot water very, very blue. I am planning to use the tea for baking, to get some interesting colour in baked goods.

I ordered this product back in APRIL 01 2020, I gave up on ever receiving this product. I've had two back surgeries ( two-disc removal in the neck C5 & C6 then Two soft tissue removal from spinal cannel S1 & L5) Fours passed without too many problems and then, Overnight chronic pain and paralysis. I don't know what happened to me, but I'm hoping this will help with the pain and also relax my muscles.

I was a bit thrown off by the packaging, as the dried flowers were in a gray shipping envelope (soft sided standard plastic shipping bag), and not in a see through bag with a note, as others stated. I hope it was sterile/clean... haha aw well. Great value for the money. The colour is incredible. I made tea and it tastes great (earthy and light tasting), however I’ll mostly be using this to dye water and make fun beverages! It’s incredible that this deep of a colour can exist naturally!
