Protects delicate cloth from heat damage

I purchased this pressing cloth to protect delicate fabrics from damage while they are being adhered to stabilizing fabric. This pressing cloth was sheer, which was a big factor in why I chose it. I wanted to be able to see if the fabric beneath was being damaged, and if it was positioned correctly or wrinkled. This cloth was perfect for that.

The edges are raw, so I do foresee that this will fray. But it is relatively inexpensive. It is also on purpose, so that seams so notget inadvertently get pressed into your projects. If handled delicately, it should be a long time before it is a true concern.

I saw this used at a sewing class I am taking. Before I po-pooed using silk organza as a pressing cloth. Now I am really impressed. It is still possible to melt it/damage it, but it takes a really hot, no steam, iron to do that. (which probably shouldnt be using anyway, so its not an issue for me). Dritz' cloth is big enough that I cut (with pinking sheers) the one I got into 4 pieces and use a couple at work one at home, and gave one to a friend. Using this its easier to see where and what you are ironing, while still protecting your fabric. And it handles steam and regular heat very well, staying smooth.

Not Hemmed!

The rectangle of silk organza works fine when ironing, but it is not hemmed, which is left out of the product description. The edges are oonly pinked. Raveling occurs. Now I have to hem it. Might have been better to have bought a yard of organza, cut it into squares, hemmed it, and have at least two pressing cloths and one could be a gift.

Horrible scorch marks ruined project

I rarely leave reviews but this press cloth is terrible and I want to warn others. I really wanted to love it because it is translucent and would make pressing so much easier, but the first time I used it it left terrible brown scorch marks on my ironing board and my sewing project. Mind you, I was just applying fusible interfacing as I've done a million times before. I don't know what this cloth is made from or what it's treated with, but stay far, far away.

I use a press cloth a lot - for attaching interfacing. This large pressing cloth is great. It is large enough to cover the outside of the Totes I make, without wetting the cloth and starting on another section. Looks and feels delicate but holds up a long time.

This is great for the purpose of a pressing cloth. The organza is somewhat stiff, and feels coarser than organza you might use for an underlining. The size of the cloth is great; I cut mine in half. I serged the edges of one half to use as a pressing cloth, and I used the other half for interfacing zippers in some of the couture-styled garments I've made for myself.

Overall, this is a good value and a high-quality pressing cloth. An must-have for anyone interested in couture sewing.
