Editorial Reviews

Pastor Jerry Paradise, Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia

"We found the Drive By Church History series so interesting and informative that several of our pastors have listened to them more than once. Desiring to share their impact with even more pastors, we contracted with Burning Bush Communications to produce a thousand copies that we distributed at our Calvary Chapel East Coast Pastor's Conference. We highly recommend them for a trip through two thousand years of Church History in 20 minute succinct and entertaining segments!"

Ken Ham, President, Answers in Genesis/Creation Museum

“The history of the Church is filled with battles over the truths and accuracy of the Bible. If we don’t learn about how Christians came to understand the truths revealed in Scripture, we have missed an important part of their legacy of upholding the Bible’s authority. As you listen to these lectures, you’ll be caught up in the centuries-old struggle over the Bible as the authority for what the Church was to believe and practice. Just as there was a need for the Reformation in the 1500s to call us back to the authority of Scripture alone, today we need a reformation – one that will call the Church back to God’s Word as the absolute authority. You’ll be encouraged and inspired by the accounts of men who trusted the Bible and died for the truth it contains, and you’ll be equipped to defend the faith delivered once to the saints.”

About the Author

Todd Friel studied to be a pastor for four years but neglected to actually get saved. He abandoned church ministry plans and did secular TV, radio and stand-up comedy for 6 years. Gratefully, God saved Todd (from hell and stand-up comedy). Since then, Todd has combined his pastoral training and media skills to host Wretched Radio and TV. Todd has one wife, three children and a dog.

This is exceptional. An enjoyable and fun way to go through the history of His Story; the way God moved through society, cu;ture, governments, religious institutions, and the minds of men from just before Christ's birth to today. This cd offers 47 fifteen minutes or so overviews of what was taking place in the world during different periods of time. It is interesting to be able to clearly see how man's fallen nature and tendency to go our own way (with temptations from the evil one) has from the very first century and before been at work to oppose God's perfect plan for us. I am already listening to this a second time and some parts a third time. Get this cd. You will be very well pleased.

This is a great 47 15 min lectures on Church History. Especially for those that do not have that much time on their hands. All of the lectures are short enough to be listened to briefly specially if you have a short attention span. Todd Friel, RW Glenn and Peter Hammond have really good input into the history of the Church. If you are going to dive into Church History buy this material.

First, I was looking for something that I could listen to on my way to work every day that relates to Church History. This is perfect. Each lecture is just over 20 minutes. I listen to the same ones on the way home so I can better remember what is being said.

I'm using this to supplement a book on church history that I'm reading (The Story of the Christian Church by Jesse Hurlbut), and it has been nice to do both at the same time. The lectures are actually humorous in some parts, and I like that's it's not just one guy talking but more like you're listening to the radio - it's conversation between 2 guys. They go through the centuries, including discussion on the culture, important events in history, and how it impacted the church.

For me personally, I wanted to learn what happened to the Christian church after the apostles had died. I wanted to know how things evolved into what we see today - including what caused the establishment of the Catholic church and the Protestant Reformation. This series has helped me as I study the Bible for myself and see what it really says.

Bottom Line: I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a high-level overview of the church through the centuries.

I normally don't leave reviews, but I was very impressed by these lectures, and wanted to recommend them for anyone who wants to gain a greater understanding of what happened after the book of Acts and the lives of the apostles.
