This started off quite stodgily. I thought I might have to give up but luckily I persevered because it opened up into the most amazing multi-layered story. The title might refer to the original drive out to the campsite or the drive to survive or even the drive to escape wherever they had found themselves with their lives. Brian's slow descent into almost madness at all that is thrown at him is tangible and my heart went out to his suffering. After the initial slowness, the book took off and I found myself devouring page after page. So much so that I read it in two sittings. This is a very cleverly written horror/suspense that gives far more than is initially obvious. It will appeal to anyone. --wistfulskimmie - Wistfulskimmies Book Reviews...

After just finishing The Drive, I must say that it kept me tense, thrilled and wondering. I have never read a book that had me feeling claustrophobic, full of awe, wondering what would happen next and joyful, all in the same book. I was impressed at how many different elements were so well blended together. And on top of it, to throw in a realistic family dynamic, a hard task to start with. S.J. Johnson does a thoroughly impressive job of weaving a spellbinding if sometimes frightening tale. A must read. --Skip410

I read the entire book in one sitting. It was an eerie book, and the author did a good job of describing the surroundings. I could really picture the thick fog and weird sandy ground. It kept my interest throughout. There were a few typos, but nothing bad. There were several curse words that I would have preferred not to see, though. Other than that, I enjoyed it. I went back and read the first of the book at the end. (You'll know who the men are in the prologue if you do). Would loved to have known what happened to the main characters...It leaves you guessing, or maybe there will be a sequel?

The story of Brian and his modern family in need of a "reconnect" as they attempt a first vacation had me turning the pages as fast as I could. Their trip evolves into nightmarish hell as they go off the grid into another dimension where nothing is normal or recognizable anymore. It needed some editing (waste instead of waist and other minor transgressions) and I really thought it had great promise but the story grew into the nearly-ridiculous at times and did not resonate with me in the end as I had hoped it would. Some excellent and heart-wrenching parts, mixed with some absurdity make for an interesting cocktail of light reading, nonetheless.

This is the story of Brian. In trying to reconnect with his family, he suggests they all go on a camping trip. They pile in the car and head off. Before too long they hit a fog bank and the van they are in hits a broken tree and is grounded. That's when things start to get REALLY strange! Somehow they have entered a portal to another dimension and must not only fight to survive but to escape with the help of a native creature they have named 'Spock'.

Despite a few type errors, it was a very good read. I'd downloaded it to my Kindle, but my husband was the one who started reading it first.

It kept me guessing throughout and I was left speechless at the ending.

Well worth the time to read it.

So.... So good. Took turns i didn't see coming. The end shocked me... Not the predictable endings you always come across. Plot line was original. Intense scenes. I didn't even notice typo's until my second time reading it. You will love it!!!
