5.0 out of 5 starsGet Absolutely Lost in this Gorgeous Historical!
ByKimmy's Korneron February 6, 2017
I admit it--I really like this author. Megan Chance is one of the best historical authors I've ever read and chooses her subject matter according to controversy and intricacy. Hers are not stories for anyone who isn't in it for the duration because the character development that takes place in a Chance novel leaves you feeling like you lived alongside the main characters. You can taste what they're eating, smell the wood smoke, hear their voices, like you are actually a part of the story.
A Drop of Ink, is a gorgeous tapestry of complicated people, happenings and intrigue. The unraveling of the five main characters is a work of art in itself and I devoured this book every chance I had to read. The desperate Louisa, insecure Calina, complicated Adelaide, misguided Julian and narcissistic Bayard are loosely modeled after historical figures who we've heard of, but I did not know this until the book's completion, something I think helped me appreciate the twists and turns of the story. Half way through the book, I began to worry about the end and what I could possibly read after this masterpiece.
I highly recommend A Drop of Ink to anyone who appreciates beautifully written historicals and is looking to get lost in a book.
