Katie Weber and Jamie Babcock have always had a connection. When they first met several years ago, they were both still teenagers and with Katie being a minor, not to mention her father being a teammate of Babs for the Portland Storm, it was not the right time for either of them to start anything more than a friendship. When Katie was diagnosed with cancer, Babs was there as a friend while wishing he could be so much more as he watched the girl he loved going through such a battle. Then the great news that Katie was healthy came and then Katie went to chase her dreams in LA, leaving Babs in Portland to continue his hockey career and pine for the one girl he thought he’d never have a chance with.
In Dropping Gloves, Katie returns to Portland to sing the national anthem at Hockey Fights Cancer night and she not only realizes she misses her family and the city she called home for so many years, but most importantly, she realizes she misses Jamie. She decides to stay, but the question becomes for how long? Jamie has missed her equally as much, but he’s not sure he can take having his heart trampled on again by the woman he loves with all of his heart when she leaves again – and he’s sure she’s going to leave again. After telling her how he feels, Katie has to make the decision about what she wants to follow, her dreams or her heart. Katie realizes she has to fight for what she wants with Jamie, all while fighting another difficult personal battle.
It’s no secret that the Portland Storm series is one of my favorites and I don’t think it’s much of a secret either that Jamie (Babs) Babcock is one of the most beloved characters that Catherine Gayle has created. The would-be romance between Babs and Katie Weber that we’ve seen potential for over the last several books is one we’ve all been waiting a long time for and finally, the wait is over and what a fantastic ride it was! This book was emotional, sweet, raw and it also gives you hope – hope that love like this does exist and that the person you love will truly stand with you through anything. I adore Babs and most importantly I adore Babs and Katie together. This is a must read!
He is as close to a real life hero as i have ever read.
He’s big and strong and well trained, but he is also kind, loyal, faithful, sweet and insecure, shy, he can fight, not at all a alfa male like most hero these days oh and he’s Canadian.
I use to say I would want him for my daughter but whom am I kidding, I would love him for myself.
Babs is all one could wish for in a man and Catherine Gayle have done him justice.
The big question is is Katie Weber worthy of his love and the answer is yes not so much because of her but because he loves her and only her.
Katies back from living her dream
Babs needs to decide if he can continue to be her friend or if its time to move on and find a new lady love.
Katies world is once again turned on its head now the question is what will she chose her heart or her dreams.
With help from an unlikely source and a kitten that thinks its a parrot the story weaves its magic weave.
This book was so worth the looooooong wait.
I didn’t think I could love Babs more than I already did but I was wrong Catherine Gayle turned him into so much more.
If you like I wonder who Catherines models for Babs was, its Jamie Benn and Jeff Skinner.
For me Jeff Skinner is the embodiment of Babs just saying.
