There was so much to like about this book. The plot... Ali, a dancer grieving after the recent loss of her mother relocates to Florida with her absentee father where she meets Drew, a popular swimmer at her high school, who also happens to be fighting demons of his own. The characters, even the secondary ones, were really likeable.

The writing is good. With this being Kathryn Andrews debut novel, it was a refreshing surprise to see that she's a talented writer, without a doubt. There are certainly things that will come with time and experience, a bit of polishing of her writing style, but for a first time author, her writing pleasantly surprised me. This story doesn't read like a debut novel. The writing is really good, the story is captivating and interesting. The characters drew me in with their respective personal problems, their heartbreaking secrets and their individual personalities. The only sign that this story comes from a "newbie author" came with how wordy the story was at times. Sometimes the story felt a little drawn out, like I was waiting for something pivotal to the plot to happen. But for the greater majority of the book, it was a fluid read.

Despite my appreciation for the plot and the characters in this book, the pacing and the timing took away from my enjoyment of this book. For me, it felt so drawn out, like huge expanses of time passed by without anything pivotal to the story happening. It's hard to explain, but I just grew bored. I needed more action or more meat... something to keep me engaged. The author does a lot of telling, rather than showing. I reached a point in the story where Ali and Drew had apparently been together for six months.

From the very first page of this book I felt connected to the characters and I can't stop thinking about them even now.

There were parts that made me smile stupidly to myself, to the point where my husband wanted to see what I was reading because of the silly grin. Then there were others that broke my heart and had me holding my breath, teary eyed.

Ali and Drew's story restored my faith in true love, and that it is worth fighting for. Nothing in life is easy, people always have baggage and things going on in their personal lives that they hide away from view.

Ali is trying to cope with a devastating loss and accept her new life in a new town and all alone. Drew is living from day to day in an almost robotic state of existence. He's counting down the days until he can finally leave. The couple meet and slowly but surely begin to form a friendship that develops beyond what the other was expecting. They become each others life line. I was so enamoured with Ali & Drew's story that once i'd started to read it, I couldn't put it down.

The author has done a beautiful job of drawing you in and making you feel every single emotion her characters are portraying.

This is the first book in the Hale Brothers Series and I am eagerly awaiting the second one now.

A perfect late summer read, 5 Beautiful Stars.

I was extremely lucky to get the opportunity to read an ARC of Drops of Rain for an honest review, and I can't get the characters or the story out of my head!

Drops of Rain is a captivating story of a young girl named Ali, that has gone through a terrible tragedy, and is alone in a new town trying to figure out how to move on and live again.
Her life takes an unforeseen turn when she crashes into hot and tempting Drew one day.
Sadly, Drew is fighting his own demons every day. His one hope is to leave everything in this town and move on from all of his heartache.
Ali never expected to find Drew....
Drew never expected to find Ali....
Now the two of them have to decide if the life they had planned for themselves is the correct life after all.

Drops of Rain hit so close to home for me for so many reason, and Kathyrn beautifully wrote the hard topics in the book.
This is definitely going in my top 5 favorite books ever.
I loved Ali, and I connected with her on a deeper level...I understood her pain, and where she was coming from.
Drew was the perfect guy....he protected what was his and always kept his focus.

It deserves so much more than 5 stars!
Buy it and devour it, you won't regret it.

PS: I fell so hard for Beau, and I am impatiently waiting for his book!!!!

I am not usually a big fan of YA but this book was amazing. I don't even know how to begin to start this review....

Drops of Rain follows the story of Ali as she tries to put the pieces of her life back together after her mother passes away. Her father moves them across the country to Florida for her senior year of high school. One her morning run, she meets a sexy stranger and shares a passionate kiss. In a moment of clarity, thanks to a seagull, the embrace is broken. Little does she know that her mystery man is none other than Drew, her neighbor and the king of her new school. She has decided that she isn't going to make waves; just stick to her plan- practice her dancing and nail her audition to Julliard.

Drew is the ultimate boy next door. He is a star athlete, a good student and devoted to the few people he lets into his life. He is harboring a huge secret though. To say things at home are not good is a vast understatement. Along with his brother Beau, they are the guys that all the others want to be and all the girls want to date. However, Drew is just counting down the days until he can leave for college. When Ali walks into his class on the first day of school, he thinks things maybe looking up. However, she does her best to keep to herself and doesn't even notice him until a few weeks into the school year.

When Ali and Drew finally come face to face with each other again, there is no denying the connection they have. Through the bumps in the road of life that each of them lead, they find a way to give the best of themselves to each other. When they finally admitted their feelings to each other I was thrilled for them- that they had found some goodness in the chaos that was their life.
