From the Back Cover
The Drunk Diet is the beer-soaked tale of a long-haired, leather-clad Rock 'N Roll party-maker who transformed a whiskey-and-5-A.M.-cheeseburger lifestyle into a wildly successful weight-loss regime. If you've ever felt intimidated by the whey-guzzling, creatine-popping models on muscle magazine covers, or unmotivated by ridiculously buff fitness gurus who swear you can look just like them if you simply follow their completely unrealistic, masochistic program...OR if you want to read about a regular guy who managed to change his life for the better, this book is for you.

Turns out, it does. The Drunk Diet doesn't condone drinking at all, in fact, Luc Carl admits to cutting down on his own drinking throughout the course of his dieting. Instead of reading a pro-alcoholic "I-Can-Do-Whatever-I-Want" argument, I found loads of helpful information about how to get started towards a healthier lifestyle, including tips on what to eat, when to eat it, and how to work off extra calories. Anyone could use this information, not just alcoholics.
Also, the Drunk Diet is written in such a way that anyone can read and enjoy it. Its funny, keeps you entertained, and I never got bored while reading. I've never much been into exercise or anything, but this book actually motivated me to get off my lazy butt and start doing something active. I am also finding myself making healthier choices in my food since I've read the book, as Carl does an excellent job persuading his readers that some food is crap. I haven't drank a Diet Coke since.
I do not believe that the point of this book is to champion alcohol use and try to convince people that you can drink and still be healthy. In fact, Carl argues the opposite. I believe the entire idea of a "Drunk Diet" is that anyone can get into shape, but that the process is different for each individual. The book is great at not pushing you to do anything you're uncomfortable doing, but rather giving suggestions as to how to get started on your 'quest to get sexy.'
I think this was a fantastic read. If nothing else, it motivated me to get off my couch and at least try to make a conscious effort to lead a healthier lifestyle.
A very entertaining story of a party boy living it up in New York's Lower East Side. Luc Carl really puts the reader in the story. At times it's hilarious and other times it's down right scary! He talks about all the fun he's having and he talks about when he's taken the party too far. A lot of people will be able to relate to this story. I know I can.
Who hasn't eaten the greasy burger after a night of hard drinking? Luc Carl has and he comes to terms with it and what he does about it. This is really where the book got interesting for me ! I want to loose weight but I don't want to give up drinking!
Luc shows you how it is possible. With some exersize and some self control you can loose some weight and still have a social life!
This book isn't just for party people. It's for anybody that wants to look good and still be able to go out for a cocktail with a friend.
Its an easy read and also very inspiring. In fact I think I'm gonna go out for a run so I won't feel so guilty when I go out to party tonight!

I would recommend for anyone looking for some inspiration, & some good laughs.
Luc seems really down to earth, normal guy improving himself.
However, its advice is pretty basic, and its title is a little misleading. As Carl narrates his story of losing weight and getting in shape, not only does it become clear that there are no approaches to diet or exercise that haven't been written about elsewhere, but Carl himself admits that his drinking habits have become more and more abstemious as his quest for fitness has progressed. So rather than being the story of someone who stayed 'wasted' and still achieved his health goals, this is the story of someone who discovered that he began to prefer being sober and fit to being drunk and overweight.
If you're new to exercise and don't know a great deal about nutrition, this book could be a good first step. It is full of advice, it's completely comprehensible, it isn't too long and it's really fun to read. However if you know your way around a gym and know a bit about the basic food groups, you might find yourself enjoying the style and perhaps getting a motivational boost rather than learning a great deal that's new.
The message the book really sends out is that there are no short-cuts but that a smarter diet and a lot of exercise will pay off, and that anyone can do it. The energy and positivity emanating from the author - who says he 'got his life back' by getting fit - do make for a much more inspiring read than the dry sets of instructions that make up many diet and exercise books.
