This one was pretty much focused on the main couple; as in, not a lot of outside drama or intricate plot lines but there was LOTS of sex. It almost bordered on too much sex for me but since Shane was so completely delicious, it definitely wasn't a hardship to read about it.
I adored Shane. I liked Nikki. And I REALLY liked them together. They don't best Nate & Ember (my most favorite couple) but they made for a sizzling match.
Shane... He was... well, he was pretty fantastic. I loved his alpha-ness, how patient he was with Nikki, the devotion he had for her & the way he oozed sexiness in everything he did. And the when he whispered French nothings in her ear... *swoon* Yes, he should've trusted her a tiny bit more but it really wasn't anything over-the-top wrong or unbelievable (that teensy last bit of trust he didn't let go of), especially with what he does for a living.
Nikki... I admired her confidence & how cool she was in accepting Shane's choice of profession. She was fun, easy-going & quite likable. Yeah, she irritated me at times; letting the headmistress at her job get to her, not contacting Shane for weeks in the beginning & running at the end but... at least she kept her promise & didn't get jealous when things got naughty at Dirty. She proved just how strong she was & how supportive she was of him when the Filthy show debuted & that was awesome.
Looking forward to the next book in the series, featuring Shane's sister, Liberty, & one of the Cage boys. I'm excited for things to head back to the Hope Town kids, as there are lots of beautiful Corps Security HEAs to be had still! :)
P.S. I wouldn't mind Dent getting with one of the Corps Security daughters... *hint hint*
Shane Kingston was the gorgeous ex stripper and current co-owner of the Dirty Dog Club. He was also the best friend to Nate (When I’m With You, book 3). He was guarded, controlled, brooding and uber sexy.
Nicole “Nikki” Clark was the hilarious, smart, independent, driven and beautiful best friend to Ember (When I’m With You, book 3).
Both were running from cheating exes where they had been broken up for a year, but neither ex was willing to let it go and it was now at the point of stalking. They had been secretly attracted to each other for years but with both in relationships, neither gave a second thought to it. However, once they realized the other was single and they had an off the charts chemistry, they decided they could help each other out and have some fun at the same time. They decided on a fake relationship, with benefits, until their crazy exes got the point and moved on.
Sloan took us through the relationship developments with a lot of crazy hot sex while simultaneously unraveling the layers of Shane. It was a journey of healing, awareness and relinquishing total control through trust.
Drunk On You was a quick and enjoyable read. I love Sloan’s trademark alpha males and feisty women. Shane and Nikki didn’t disappoint. Sloan also prepped us for the next book in the series focusing on Liberty, Shane’s sister, and one of the Cage brothers. It’s a promise for more sizzling fun and I can’t wait!
