I apparently purchased two copies of this book. I purchased one in 2014 when I was in a dark place with my drinking and the other in 2018, again when I was in a dark place.
It took me a while to pick up this novel and start reading it, but once I started I couldn’t put it down. I just finished it tonight and I’m so sad. I wish I would’ve read a little slower as I enjoyed it so much.
To give some background, I’m a gay recovering alcoholic so I found this to be very relatable for me, personally. I’m also an addiction counselor now so I read this book prior to displaying it in my office with my other books on recovery and addiction.
Some parts of this book made me laugh, and some made me cry because I found it all too relatable.
If the author by chance reads this review, thank you. Thank you for inspiring me and so many others. I’ve been in recovery for about 3 years now so I’m by no means an expert, but reading this novel is inspiring me to keep going. I am somebody and so are you.
