Desiccant Beads with Indicator Beads

Arrived on a rainy day and the delivery person left it in the rain without putting it in a bag. The container was well sealed so it did not absorb much moisture, if any (the beads are still blue weeks after I opened the bottle).

As a chemist, I have used similar beads for many years. The indicator beads are a must if you want to know if the desiccant is still viable. They can be oven dried many times before the indicator wears out. Compared to what you have to pay when purchased from a scientific supplier, these are very inexpensive.

At home, I use them in a water tight "ammo box" in a tin with holes in it to keep spools of flux core welding wire dry. Works great!

super useful and much cheaper than buying them little packets. I use them to store bird seeds. The indication beads are blue when dry, when it's absorbed a bit of moisture they'll turn green; when they're very saturated they become pink. There are ones I left inside the double-panel windows hoping to prevent condensation within; after the pink-stage these beads become colorless. I guess because the dye had been washed out?
Either way, with the pink and green beads I was able to easily recycle them after drying them in oven. The blue color returns and they look as good as new.

Probably my fault for not reading thoroughly, but the listed does say beads are ~2-4mm, I only remember seeing the 4mm. Many of the beads in this quart are pretty small and have been escaping through the holes in my silica container. One of these days, I'll have to 3D print another container (when I recharge the silica), so the beads stay put.

Would have been nice to know that these beads are so small.

after the first go the indicating beads turn color like in the middle of the range. so when the beeds turn color they have about half left of water to collect, and vice versa when drying. so even when the bottle says it takes 30 minutes its more like 4-5 hours at 250 degrees. and while the beads are hot they are very weak and shatter when mixed so just set and forget and let it work.
