Product Description

The Jean Dubost name is famous worldwide for its Laguiole knives. They have been produced in the South of France since the early 1900’s. The family continues to produce high quality knives and flatware using the same traditions and skills that have been passed from generation to generation. Each knife is embellished with a bumble bee which is the traditional symbol on Laguiole knives. Each knife in this set of 6, is made from high quality materials and must complete 25 manual production stages before it is ready to be sold.

The knives were totally unlike the picture... They have ugly line like serrations on the blade (the pic on amazon is an unserrated blade), and laguiole" is not script as the item illustration shows, but block letters stamped on the blade. Also, the picture shows a natural wood clamshell case... These came in a cheaply dyed wooden tray. Isn't false advertising illegal?

I was very disappointed with the quality of the blade. The blades themselves felt light, I expected a bit more heft from a steel handled knife. Also, fresh out of the packaging, the blade had small imperfections and tool marks and blemishes. For the price, I expected perfect mirror finish - ended up sending them back.

These feel extremely cheap. I'm very disappointed in these. Compared to my everyday placesettings (from Pottery Barn), these feel insubstantial and don't have enough weight in the blade or handle. They feel almost like plastic. Super disappointed.

The knives were beautiful, however the wooden box had apparently been run over by a forklift, or a 747 or something, because it was broken. It made it hard to present as a gift, but I was just relieved that the knives were undamaged. Unfortunately, I had to give without the case....there just wasn't time to do anything else.
