This November, A&E's popular "Duck Dynasty" is getting an actual DVD release. While the show has been available to purchase for quite some time, it was previously being sold as a DVD-R on demand product. That means that it was pressed onto discs when you purchased it as opposed to it being packaged for sale at a store near you. Well, I guess they sold enough units to make it a viable DVD release because, for those that haven't experienced the show, it's coming out in a three disc set.

WARNING: BE CAUTIOUS ABOUT WHICH VERSION YOU ARE BUYING! They are both still for sale on this site and all of these reviews are lumped together under both. So read the description carefully if you want the new version with a Bonus disc of extra footage.

Other than the extra disc, the Season One release still retains the fifteen episodes of the show's premiere year for a total running time of approximately 5 1/2 hours. The DVD also has a Spanish subtitle option.

In short, "Duck Dynasty" is one of the new brand of reality programs that adheres to a pretty expected format. Shows that employ a similar formula can be found all over the cable airwaves on channels such as Lifetime, A&E, and even History. I mention this up front because, like many of its cousins, this is a show that you will absolutely love or violently despise. It introduces the Robertsons, a Louisiana bayou clan that has built a sporting goods business empire called Duck Commander. They are living the dream as an unlikely success story. As you might anticipate, though, this family is populated by wacky eccentrics espousing down home wisdom. Are you laughing with the Robertsons or at the Robertsons? And does it really matter?

Frankly people assume a few things when they hear the base premise for "Duck Dynasty" they usually assume its a bunch of red neck hillbillies with poor manners and "fowl" attitudes. This is false, the Robertson family, even though they are rednecks, are wholesome honest hard working americans who through hard work and family made a big business for themselves. I don't see a lot of tv shows that show values .... especially shows like Jersey Shore, the Kardashians and all the Real House wives of whatever! I would recommend the show not just biased on its core values, but because its just one of the funniest shows on television, and they don't even have a writing staff! I would say watch more than one episode and keep an open mind to different cultures besides your own.

fyi I am not a redneck ..... although I do try.....

God. Family. Ducks....This is what the show is about...well maybe a few other critters like gators, beavers, dogs, and cats...well you get the idea!

Simply one of my favorite "reality" tv shows. It's the ONLY one I will watch. You will have to accept the fact they are God fearing people that hunt. If you cannot wrap your head around this simple thing...then move on! You want people that put it to you bluntly and live life on their terms...they are the folks for you (and they are totally my kind of people!).

Jase is my favorite hands down...he normally thinks before he speaks and gives little brothers their due when they are being stupid. Then there is Si...words fail me on Si. Suffice to say...he's a mixed can of nuts!! They didn't get this business handed to them. They EARNED their wealth with hard work.

Absolutely love this show and never tire of the re-runs. Looking forward to Season 4!!!

I had never watched Duck Dynasty during any of its first four seasons, but when the recent controversy began after offense was taken by GLAAD and now Jesse Jackson over Phil Robertson's comments during an interview, I viewed an episode to see what the show was all about. Then I watched a second episode and a third, and before I knew it I was almost through the first season.

My previous assumption was that the show is about a bunch of dumb backwoodsmen who the viewers are supposed to be ridiculing and that was not very appealing to me. I quickly learned, however, that the Robertson Family members are very intelligent and the show is funny! But the humor involves laughing with them and not at them. The episodes are light-hearted and family oriented. Nobody is perfect, but the Robertson's are a decent and loving family who makes no apology about their faith in Jesus Christ. Too many other reality shows offer a celebration of bad choices and shallow lifestyles. Duck Dynasty offers family, faith, and humor. Viewers of any age can watch the show without parents cringing. Now I have to make a choice of hoping the other seasons also becomes free for Amazon Prime members or purchasing the DVDs.

Cannot get enough DUCK DYNASTY!! Finally there is a series that is family friendly, not full of sex, or language. Showing that even some rich people take time to thank GOD for His blessings. It has put my faith back in films ability to create something other than trash.

Finally a reprieve from the typical garbage that Hollywood spews out- every member of the family has a great personality. From Willie to si all the characters are interesting. Can't wait for season two highly recommend
