Small Gap & Large Gap Review in one
Just a heads up - the small gap product has been discontinued. Over the years I've purchased both the small and large gap sealer. If you look at my photos you will see there is no difference in size - just the appearance. The left side is the small, the right side is the large. They both work exactly the same. However this latest order 11/18/23 - I too had the same issues as others. The paper you have to peel off to stick is very tricky. When I attempted to peel the yellow tape off, the tape went with it, leaving behind no bonding. I called Duck and shared my issues. They believe there may have been old stock shipped out. I would like to recommend if others encounter the tape bond peeling off, contacting Duck directly. I hope my photos help you decide which style you want and understanding picture wise the difference between the two.

The intent for this was to buffer temps on 2 windows with thin glass and an exterior door with settling gap between the metal door and wooden frame. Application was easy for both the thin strips (as intended) as well as a wider section using the double width. The temps were more stable fewer drafts, and quieter as well. Filled the purpose ideally. Thanks.

I ordered this weather stripping to install on my office's commercial aluminum door and frame. My building is older so there was previously no stripping installed at all. It was just a painted metal door closing onto a painted metal door frame.

The installation took about ten minutes and I'm not exactly the handiest person in the world. I think that if you can put a postage stamp on an envelope, you can install this weather stripping. Some other reviewers have stated that the tape wasn't sticky enough. Before installing, I did prep the painted metal surfaces by wiping them down three times with some rubbing alcohol on paper towels. The tape appears to be holding very strongly.

The difference from pre-installation to post installation is like inside versus outside for lack of a better pun. Before, I could hear all of the traffic from the street and feel drafts coming in and out. I don't have any of that now.

Per another reviewer's recommendation, I ordered two packages to make sure I had enough tape. I had about 10 inches left over after making a U around my standard size door (36" x 80"). So if you want to fully enclose your opening (make an O as opposed to U), then you might need to buy two sets.

Another reviewer wrote that the "stickiness loses effectiveness in transit." Sure, that could happen. But to easily prevent this, just peel off as much tape as you need to at a time. As in, don't peel 10 feet of backing off the tape to start, peel off one inch at a time as you're putting it around your frame and it'll be fine.

    I highly recommend this product.

My apartment door has always had a large gap in it. The door slams loudly and during windy nights, you can hear the door move with the breezes from the hallway. I got one of those cheap knock off brand door sealers, and it wasn't very good. I finally decided to go on amazon and check out a name brand product. The quality difference is night and day. Considering a cheap brand is only a couple of dollars less than duck brand, there really is no reason not to go with the name brand one.

Installation is a breeze. Peeled off the thin weatherstripping on the door. Cleaned off the surface with cleaning solution. Then cut three portions for the top and side sills of the door. Application is simple and takes 5 minutes. I did mis-align at one point and had to pull off and reapply. It was not easy as the adhesive is very strong.

The weather stripping did a great job. No more gap. The door closes firmly, with no wiggling after it is closed. There is unfortunately still a loud slam, so not much dampening sound wise. I will say there is one corner of the door where the weatherstripping started to peel. I noticed I hadn't cleaned that corner well and there was still a bit of old weatherstripping there. So make sure the area is perfectly clean for the best possible seal.

The biggest problem with this is something that can come up often. Since the door gap is now closed, the door will sit farther back. This means the latch and lock does not as easily hit the strike plate. In fact it requires slight pressure from the inside when locking, as well as slight pulling when locking/unlocking from the outside. It's definitely annoying. I've actually seen on youtube that this can be so bad for some people that they need to move the strike plate back by drilling and carving. Be very aware if you have a huge gap without much leeway on the strike plate that this could be a possibility.

As you can see this product does the job. The weather striping gets somewhat damaged in its packaging. The bottom 2 to 2 and a half feet have indentations in the weather striping. One package covered one bedroom door. I had to overlap a couple of feet to completely cover the gap. I still have a few small spaces, however the stripping covered 95-99% of the light bleed. Easy to install and work with. This stuff is very sticky. Work slowly and only pealed off a few inches at a time as you work to applied it to your door. Very solid deal for the price. Makes door harder to close after application, not really the striplings fault, door is just out of wack. If I had it to do over I might try some soft foam stripping instead. Hope this helps, pictures are of the door the stripping was applied to.

So I bought 2 other seals for my condo unit doors to replace the one I installed in 2015 which just wore off and wasn’t as effective. The stripping was needed primarily to block sound, hallway light and dust coming through. The two weather strips I bought were way too thick and prevented my door from closing, despite being medium gap size. Very aggravated, I was determined to find the original weatherseal strip I installed back in 2015, and thanks to Amazon excellent purchase order record keeping I was able to retrieve this one in my order from almost 9 years ago. Works like a charm today as well. I would say it is a small gap seal as the other brands medium size is much thicker. It did the trick, no light, sound or dust coming through! Very happy customer, despite spending 3x what I should have if I bought this one in a first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente cinta a la que le puedes dar varios usos.
Reviewed in Mexico on June 1, 2017
Size: 1 sealStyle: Large GapVerified Purchase
¡Saludos!

Used this to seal my door which had huge gaps, and has mosquitoes and dust coming in. It did the job perfectly, has remained in position despite the enormous pressure exerted on it. Now it blocks all the light/sound/dust, and I am very happy with it. Will highly recommend! Please note that one package has enough to cover just one door, that too when it is split into two.
