It's the eighth book in the Rebel Wayfarer MC series. A series that should be read in order to fully understand the intricacies of the RWMC. Are the characters well developed and complex? You, betcha! Other Rebels make appearances and move in and out of Ruben's book but in no way detract from his story, instead they make it richer. MariaLisa touched on the very dark past and dysfunction of Ruben's childhood but that scene helps the reader understand what drives Ruben to become the man known as Duck that the reader will fall in love with little by little throughout the book. His story with Bee which spans the time from childhood to adulthood is perfection. Who Duck ultimately becomes is how the pieces and life experiences - hard, harsh, cruel, understanding, sense of brotherhood, secrets, forgiveness and love - shaped him. He is sweet but not. Tortured but finds himself. Reconnecting with Bee and his family farm roots allows Duck to fully realize his worth and potential and what he means to others and how others look to him for support.

Duck was wonderful. A solid book, the storyline was fresh, characters developed, and emotionally balanced. It would have been 5 stars, but there were a couple of instances where I had to shake my head. Duck spent much of his adult life trying to make up for his brother's actions. He recruits his Brothers to help take care of Mica, and she eventually becomes the Princess of the Rebel Wayfarers. Duck finally goes home to take care of the family business, and finds more than he bargains for. This book is more about his home life than the club, but characters from past books pop up. Highly recommend.

I took a special interest in this book because of who was on the cover. Since reading , I've decided to read the whole series! So well written I laughed, I cried, and yes I even grieved with the characters. I got lots of strange looks when I was talking out loud at parts too! Duck is a must read and I can't wait to catch up on previous stories.

MariaLisa deMora has done it again! This author never ceases to amaze me. She is able to bring out so much emotion from me through her writing and some very emotional characters. Duck’s book felt so right, natural and was a story I have never read before. Unlike the other books in this series, Duck’s story takes place in his home town of Texas and not in Chicago or Fort Worth. If you follow this series than you know that some of the stories overlap, but each one feels different. I have read all 8 books and every time I do I find myself on an emotional roller coaster with so many ups and downs. I can only attribute those feelings to an author that is masterfully talented in creating new characters with similar but unique story lines.

We have seen Duck in the previous books, but we did not really know him, so getting this story was special. Duck was a good man, loyal to his club and to his friends but at night he has nightmares. It was hard to see how much his past tortured him. Getting to know his past broke me in more ways than I can express. The evil he has experienced not only at the hands of his father but that of his brother was horrific. They loved to inflict pain and they got off on it. Duck has spent years trying to deal what they did to him. In order to save to only woman that kept the demons at bay, he left his home town and never looked back. He found a home and family in the Rebel Wayfarers while developing a special bond with Mason the President. Duck never forgot the love he left behind. He vowed to never return until he got a call from that very woman.

Brenda has never gotten over Ruben (Duck). She doesn’t know the real reason why he left all those years ago.

WOW Duck/Reuben's story starts off with a BANG. The way he grew up , the childhood he endured , I was horrified at the things he saw and had to do. It is obvious why his brother Ray - who we know from before and very much dislike - became the way he was. Their father was a despicable man and it is ironic how he came to his end. But anyhow - moving on with Duck's story. Much like the rest of the series we are filled with many many different things going on. We get pre-Rebel days/childhood , we get how they come to be Rebels , we get the present and future and we also get stories that may run alongside what we have already read. This is no fast read , you can't whip through this story because you would definitely miss out. Every single word and action spurs something. There is heartache , danger , suspense and all kinds of angst and drama !! Not to mention the dirty talking ways of Duck - wow he has a mouth and he knows how to use it.

Duck had been ridden with guilt for years due to his father and brother's actions. He spent years searching for and protecting Mica and now years later he has finally found a family that loves him. He may not have a specific job in the MC but he is a valued and trusted member. Always there for anyone. When the woman from his past reaches out to him he is intrigued by her odd message and he finds himself going home after years to find out what is going on. This is not club business so he is there as Reuben. Coming face to face with Brenda , the girl turned woman of his past and her son is bittersweet. Happy to see she is happy and had moved on and also happy to see how well she has done running a business started by his family. While home Reuben is trying to right his wrongs and win his girl back. This comes with many revelations and some are very amazing.
