This is a remake of the classic NES game from 1989. The game is almost identical except it was given a completely modern presentation with HD graphics, excellent voice acting, and extra scenes including Scrooge's mansion. For anyone who grew up on Duck Tales, this is a must-own. You can even swim in Scrooge's gold vault just like the cartoon!

For those not familiar with the game or series, you play as Scrooge McDuck and explore a series of non-linear levels to collect treasure. Your main attack is bouncing on enemies with your cane, and Scrooge can bounce all over the place as much as he wants. The formula is as simple and fun as classic Mario, and this is probably a really good buy if you enjoyed New Super Mario Bros. U. There are secret treasures hidden absolutely everywhere, so there is a bit of replay value to each stage, as well as a difficulty setting that makes the game quite challenging if you want it to be.

A word of caution: by today's standards this game is rather short. I was actually surprised to see it being sold as a physical game disc because I thought it was going to be e-Shop-only like most other arcade and NES releases. I don't want to discourage anyone from picking this up, but please make sure you're getting the best price before you buy this, as it should be a budget title.

Nice trip down memory lane. I loved the 1989 game and loved this platformer. My buddy bought it on my recommendation, had never played the 1989 game and enjoyed it but didn't love it. For adults, the emotional connection to the first one, and it's awesome gameplay for the time, is what makes this worth playing it. Once you finish the game, many additional items become available, including the original soundtrack. The updated graphics give it a fun feel but stay true to the original. The cut scenes--in my opinion--are way too long but they can be skipped.

The game is based off the original 1989 classic with only one additional level added. By today's standards, it is not a lengthy game that offers 50-60 hrs of game play, but set to hard, the game can get tricky at times and, in other places, be rather unforgiving.

Beyond the nostalgia factor, I think kids would love this game, and it's easy on the wallet.

This game is incredibly fun, and addicting (played it for three hours the first time)! It's similar to games like super Mario bro u, and super Mario 3D in that you have to collect things in different worlds and defeat a big "boss" at the end of that world, but to me it's much less frustrating and more user friendly. I have trouble in super Mario with the time limits, and it's very hard to play solo since you often need other players to help you jump higher or to sacrifice one of their lives to get a hard to reach coin. DuckTales is challenging, even on easy mode, but is not pull-your-hair-out frustrating. The GamePad controls were very easy to master after viewing the electronic manual. The graphics are beautiful, and the music is very fitting. You start with three hearts of full health, then whenever you run into bad things, you take a hit of either a half or a full heart. When your hearts are gone, you die, but the best part is it immediately starts you off in the section you were just in without you having to do anything - no restarting the entire world, no pushing buttons. I had to be reborn numerous times in each of the three worlds on easy I cleared, but with perseverance, I succeeded. It's so fun to be able to try, try, try until you succeed without having to redo everything. You also don't have to worry about collecting your treasures again-if you've already grabbed it, it's yours, even if you die. The voice acting is spot on and takes me back to watching the DuckTales cartoon. Being able to use Scrooge's cane as a pogo stick to defeat enemies, or as a bat to break things open, not to mention swinging from ropes and dodging giant spiders, makes me feel like Indiana Jones. If you like platforming types of games, but get frustrated with super Mario bros u, take this one for a test spin. It's easily the best $15 game I've bought.

Love Ducktales, played this game as a kid for the NES and enjoyed the remastered version thoroughly. The graphics are great and the boss battles were fun and have been re-worked from the original game. It was also a reminder of how difficult NES games were, I played through the game twice once on medium difficulty and once on easy, the medium difficulty was actually rather challenging, the easy setting was, well easy.

So, I never played the original NES version of this, but heard good things about the Wii U remake. So I picked it up for my wife for Christmas, as she really wanted to try it out.

While the "Easy" mode is easy only in the sense that you get unlimited respawns, it was still a challenge though.

As for "Medium" and "Hard" modes though, they should actually be titled "Nearly Impossible" and "You're Dead", because quite frankly, that's how it is! Great game though. Lots of fun and frustration.

SOOOO glad they picked this game to remaster! This was always one of my favorite NES games, and it's amazing to see how many secrets I remember this many years later. The game maps are the same, some of the audio is the same (some is enhanced), and the graphics are amazing. DEFINITELY a must for any NES lover.

My hope for the next remastered game? Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers!
