The read is easy. It's almost flows as easily and humorously as the sunday comics page. Now, I know I definitely have the easy part of pregnancy being a man and all, but it is still pretty rough on both of us. This book brought that perspective to light for my wife and made it easier to convince me to do things for her.
Overall, I cannot recommend this book enough to expecting parents of both genders. But if you already know everything and have no sense of humor, you may not get anything out of it.
Hopefully, these guys come out with a 2nd book: The Dude's Guide to the 1st Year of Fatherhood. Could definitely use it right about now.
Wow, it pains me to even think how much effort these authors put into trying to be funny. The lengths to which they went to try and get the reader to laugh would be admirable if the book was actually funny. That said, I did laugh out loud once, exactly half way into the book when I realized I was still reading it. I could save everyone some time and capture in four points what it took them 200 pages to do:
1. Kids are expensive
2. Women are highly irrational during pregnancy. So, don't try logic because they aren't thinking logically. Just swallow your pride and acquiesce way more often than normal.
3. Use "you look cute" a lot. It is easy for you to say and makes them feel way more secure about the way they look.
4. Sex is peaks and valleys during pregnancy. More valleys than peaks and the peaks are unpredictable, but there is no in between.
Don't waste your time or money on this one.

Purchased this for my son - a first time dad. He has laughed all the way "through the second trimester". He said it was almost like being pregnant along with his wife!!Published 21 months ago by Judy
Reasonably amusing in parts, but the same joke is made over and over again. More subtlety would have made it funnier and more informativePublished on December 4, 2013 by A. M. Apostolou
I have to admit, I had some laughs while reading this, but by the end the humor got old. I would say it's worth a read for any new dad.Published on October 15, 2013 by Matt Zupanc
