I enjoyed this romance of a young woman devoted to her gift for painting as she is forced to flee to California after tragedy strikes her New Mexico home towards the end of the Mexican-American war. A bit of the past in the form of a man of mixed heritage struggling to find himself and his future. I loved the insight into the Mexican culture.

They have met each other a couple of years ago, he was impressed with her she was really angry.
Then they met in Blessing. Secrets from their past preserved them from really getting to know and love each other.
It was a fun book to read. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This was a great historical romance with a m/f pairing set in the "old west". Both of our MCs are Mexican, and the story has a strong focus on lost identity.

I enjoyed reading about all the things that had occurred to lead Araceli and Miguel to Blessings and to each other. So many things happened at the end of the story the author could easily write another book to address them. :)

Araceli and Miguel have many misunderstandings and prejudices to overcome. A talented artist, Araceli, feels she is married to her work and needs no man especially one that fought against Mexico. Miguel, also called Michael, has a past and a reward unjustly hanging over his head. Mimi Milan weaves a wonderful tale and has some interesting plot twists. Well written
