The Duke of Northbridge's less-than-romantic proposal will ensure the futures of her staff and herself but Vanessa Fitzwilliam "held out hope for something more." With the futures of her loyal servants in doubt, and some shrewd maneuvering by the Duke, Vanessa is forced to consider his unconventioanl marriage offer.
I will not spoil the reader's opportunity to learn about the "something more" but will tell you this short is worth the hour or two of your time to read it. The relationship between Vanessa and the Duke is wonderfully constructed. I suggest you may find yourself reading this one again once in a while and wondering about your own childhood acquaintances. A great five star short story. Olivia Ritch!
100 PAGES. Not worth the $2 I paid for it. A dollar would have been stretching it.
Gets two stars because it would have been a good story if it hadn't taken me twenty minutes to read it.
One did not have to think a whole lot. While it was a pleasant read, I did not see where either the hero or heroine changed their minds re the nature of their relationship.
