I love the original Dumb and Dumber it is one of my favorite comedy movies. I've watched it over and over and laugh everyone. I thought I would upgrade my copy. This "director's" cut is kind of horrible. The deleted scenes add nothing to the movie but to actually ruin it. It proves that editing is so important to a good movie. They drag out a joke until it's no longer funny. Or they just make a joke unnecessarily gross. Whatever the deleted scenes I didn't like. And it would be okay if I were able to watch it without them but, this version does not let you watch the original release so I am stuck watching a movie that was good and now not so good.

I always like a good comedy, but after watching this movie I learned there is a line between comedy and utter stupidity. Lloyd and Harry travel across the country to return a briefcase to a woman Lloyd fell in love with after driving her to the airport. They get themselves into all sorts of ridiculous situations and manage to avoid personal disaster without really even knowing what's going on. There certainly were hilarious moments, but for me the never-ending stupidity got a little irritating by the end of the movie.

Harry and Lloyd of "Dumb and Dumber" are two iconic characters so moronic, they're unaware of the changing gravities of their surroundings. They're also genius character sketches, and for those exact same reasons.

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels create a brilliantly inane duo whose stupidity saves them from the same predicaments their stupidity got them into, and it takes pure genius to conceive of something that dumb.

If you let go of your self-perceived intelligence long enough to succumb to this film's wonderfully idiotic gags, you'll find "Dumb and Dumber" to be one of the great side-splitters from this era's specific brand of comedy. Best comedy of all time been watching it since it came.out and it never gets old the idiotic characters are hilarious every moment is funny. The characters are the biggest morons you will ever see and as a result end up stealing ransom money and being followed across the country by thugs and FBI all the while knowing absolutely nothing and getting into the most insane situations. Jim Carrey was at the peak of his hilarity in this movie. Jeff Daniels is insanely funny. Together they are best friends and so dumb it actually makes you feel good about your own life lol so many hilarious scenes especially when they accidentally poisoned the "hitchhiker"at the restaurant.and when llyod "sold some stuff" such as a dead bird with it's head taped on lol they are hilarious idiots from top to bottom from clothes to hair to facial expressions one of the best or the best comedy of the nineties and quite possibly of all time

I am such a huge fan of Jim Carrey Jeff Daniels as I grew up on their films in the 90s. The best ones for me are even to this day Dumb and Dumber and the Ace Ventura movies. I also had the chance in 2018 to chat with Jim on a set I was working on in Culver City, CA. It was the most epic day of my life meeting the iconic actor and getting to chat with him for a bit. I was sitting next to Brad Garret and another actress chatting with them for the scene and Jim popped into the doorway. I kept my composure but others said based of my look it seemed as though my jaw hit the floor. What a great night and this movie is basically how Jim is in real life (not the dumb part) the funny and outgoing man we see in movies.

I watched my old VHS copy of this dozens of times as a kid and have finally bought the uncut DVD version as it has been 20 years since I last saw Dumb and Dumber and the film has aged well in my opinion.

But watching it as mid-30s male, I now see things here that I wouldn't have related to as a kid; such as how hard adult life is for a lot of us; or that horrid realization that you are just a loser in other people's eyes, which is sadly what Harry and Lloyd are: losers living on the fringes of society that have only each other; people that just didn't have the confidence or encouragement of others as kids to get on in life; which is one of the more depressing themes in this otherwise very funny film.

Now this uncut version isn't hugely different to the original; just a few extended scenes here and there which make the film more adult oriented in parts. But sadly you soon see that Lloyd is actually quite a creep and actually a big jerk to Harry, who is a much nicer person than Lloyd.
But either way, I still like this film a lot.

there is literally no film i love more. some films only get better when they extend it or make alternative cuts but i have to say the uncut version of this movie is really bad. the extensions and edits in the flick make it worst. Watch the uncut version compared to this version and you'll agree less really is more....

I spent a lot of time in 90's watching this film and have proberbly seen it at least once a year since. Why am i writing a review now? Because after watching it last night, again... i felt compelled to. This film is brilliantly funny, Carrey and Daniels go way over the top and it works. The gags come thick and fast, trying to catch them all in one sitting is an impossibility. My fav from last night was, "One minute your eating a burger, the next your dead meat". Not the best line, but it just got me giggling. If you've not seen it, watch it. This is what your life has been missing. An all out, gross out comedy from the farrelly brothers. And yes... its much funnier then 'Theres Something about Mary", although that is also, a top film.

This is a film that is a family favourite, and never fails to get us laughing. It has the perfect title, and whilst Jim Carrey would not be one of my favourite actors my children love him. Jeff Daniels is an ideal partner in this movie, and I surmise his part more out of character than Mr. Carrey, who can play this type of role in his sleep. Together the pair make it work, and if your looking for a laugh I can recommend this film. Anytime your feeling down, put this movie on, and in no time at all you will be laughing your socks off, because it is what it says in the title. Mrs. M Walsh.
