Product description
The kingdom of Romulea is in peril. Monsters are leaking out of every nook and cranny in the land and have started an uprising against humanity. Players take on the role of Fried, an adventurer from the Royal Library sent to stop the uprising. Early in his journey, Fried discovers a broken shrine. This sets in motion the story where Fried travels around the kingdom, and through rescuing, defeating, or bumping into any of the 16 unique girls that can join his party, he is on a mission to save the world. Set in a first-person perspective with turn-based combat, players will encounter normal monsters as well as more powerful mutant girls, who must be sealed away to prevent the spread of the evil monster scourge.

But as a dungeon crawler, this game is one of the best I've played, period. I've been nearly driving myself to exhaustion because I've been having trouble putting it down.
Class changes? You got it -- five base classes, 11 intermediate classes, and 16 advanced classes. Wizardry, eat your heart out! Furthermore, these advanced classes retain the active and passive skills of previous classes, as well as some variation in which intermediate class to branch from, so making the best use of your skill points early on makes class changing more than a simple progression gimmick.
Like most other dungeon crawlers, you'll probably spend hours trying to come up with a unique team that best fits your own play style. Should you make a Samurai with a Paladin base, giving her the abiliy to be an evasion "tank" for the team? Or perhaps you could go Berserker -> Samurai, opting to go all-out for offense. Maybe you want to try bucking trends and take on the challenge of gearing a Valkyrie tank into a front-line healer. Or why not just forgo healers entirely and rely on a squad of maids to buff, debuff, and cook meals for the party? Choices, choices...
Dungeons are a more straight-forward affair, although still rife with hidden passages, traps, pitfalls, teleports, one-way walls... and on top of all that, monsters behind every corner. Part of what really puts this game above other crawlers are dungeon sub-events that help keep things lively. Sixteen advanced classes means there are sixteen playable characters, not including DLC. Each character has their own well-voiced personality, and depending on your actions, characters will banter with each other inside dungeons. There's even an enigmatic comedy duo that roams dungeons, consisting of a talking bear and penguin. Will Peggy ever share her secrets as to how she solos these dungeons all by herself, while Beard stands by the wayside?
And yes, the dungeons and bosses can be very challenging, depending on how suited your party is. The best thing about this challenge though, is that there's always a way to change up your tactics or party composition to tackle a challenge. And if you don't want to change, well, there's always good old-fashioned level grinding.
There's even a generous helping of optional dungeons and post-game content, which might be as long, or possibly longer than the main story content itself. The post-game content even has class-specific checkpoints and challenges, which helps to ensure you'll get to experience the full spread of classes, character combinations, and dungeon sub-event banter.
This game's probably received a fair bit of press for its lewd content -- and again, you'll have to decide for yourself if you're okay with that -- but the game itself is one of the best I've played... and I've been playing dungeon crawlers of all types since Wizardry and Might and Magic. The PS Vita has a healthy selection of dungeon crawlers now, but this is arguably the best.
It is a dungeon crawler. It is arguably THE most difficult, yet most-balanced dungeon crawler on the Vita. You are looking at a game that boasts class customizations, various ways to take care of enemy mobs, on-your-toes boss fights that challenge your understanding of the mechanics, a fun, engaging story, an excellent and charming cast that grows on you...
...and over twice the game's main campaign length in post-game dungeon content, for those who want even more challenge. If you main Etrian Odyssey, this is a no-brainer--get this game. Get it and enjoy it.
PSTV compatible, and below the 3.60 update threshold, for those concerned with that detail.
