    Dura-Gold is the only brand of sandpaper I use anymore. It's there for you whether you're wet sanding or dry sanding, metal wood or plastic, and I have never had the abrasive wear through to the paper like I've experienced with other brands. It's also very easy to clean and reuse the sheets over and over again, though they will eventually wear out - but not for quite some time. The paper is very easy to fold into wedges for getting into super-tight or oddly shaped spaces. Absolute must-have for the hobby desk.

    I used to have a large stash of Gator Brand and some 3M carbide paper but needed to re-stock. I have had a hard time finding a good local source for quality carbide paper so decided to give Dura-Gold a try. I have not been disappointed. I use it for sharpening my jointer blades (paper adhered to float glass or my granite surface plate). I also use this stuff a lot for flattening the soles of old hand-planes that I find at flea markets and other similar tasks with steel and cast iron. At first I was bothered by these being half-sheets only, but then realized that I pretty much ALWAYS cut a full 9x11 sheet in half before using anyway. So kind of a moot point.

    Durability of the abrasive has been good. Grit size is very uniform and it is well adhered to the backing. The paper backing is also of high quality. I use either light oil or mineral spirits as a lubricant.

    Ok, I am not providing a comprehensive or scientific analysis here. Just a quick opinion from someone who is familiar with how a good abrasive should perform and someone who actually uses it for real work.

    In my spare time I design and build wood furniture for my wife and I. Nearly all of it is finished with several coats of oil based polyurethane. 800 grit sandpaper is necessary to smooth imperfections such as drips, overruns, embedded dust, and ridges (if painter's tape is used to stop the poly from flowing where it shouldn't go, on the project). Used wet or dry, this sandpaper is excellent and I recommend.

    Meanwhile, I have found other uses for it. Have a glass cooktop? Does your glass cooktop have some crusts that will not come off using a green scrubbing pad and gritty glass cooktop cleaner, or a razor blade? Mine had several sections that resisted cleaning with these two typical methods. Then I noticed my 800 grit sandpaper. So I sprayed a little glass cleaner on the embedded mess, then went to work with the sandpaper. Got the glass cooktop shiny in no time.

    Similarly, several of my sink pop-up chrome drains had crud that would not come off with anything, so I gently wet sanded them off with this product. Other than smoothing polyurethane, cleaning glass cooktops and chrome drains, I am certain that there are 797 other uses for this 800 grit sandpaper.

    If I ever run out of this product through my use wood-working, I will order another package just to keep around for use in sprucing up the home.

    I use this sandpaper on a rubbing machine. The full sheet is 9 by 11". The rubbing machine has two shoes. Out a full sheet I can cut three pieces of sandpaper to rub table tops with. These half sheet are very uneconomical. From now on I am only buying full sheets 9-11" to avoid too much waste.
