What is an alkaline battery?	Duracell pioneered the Alkaline Manganese Dioxide electrochemical system nearly 40 years ago. In the 1960s, this battery system rapidly became the popular choice of designers in the ever-widening field of consumer electronics.
Do all batteries last the same amount of time?	No, different batteries provide different lengths of life and power output depending on the type and amount of chemicals used to compose them. Think of it like cooking a meal: Using different ingredients and amounts makes the meal taste different.
What is inside a battery?	The three major parts of a battery: The anode, cathode and electrolyte. The anode is often a metal, the cathode a metallic oxide, and the electrolyte a salt solution that facilitates the ion flow.
When should I remove batteries from my device?	Batteries should be removed from devices/equipment when: The device is not expected to be in use for several months The batteries are worn out (to prevent possible damage from battery leakage) The device is being powered by household (AC) current.
Can alkaline batteries be recharged?	Only batteries that are specifically labeled ‘rechargeable’ should be recharged. Any attempt to recharge a nonrechargeable battery could result in rupture or leakage. We recommend that you use NiMH Duracell rechargeables.
Does it matter what type of battery I use in my device?	Always replace the battery or batteries in your equipment with the size and type specified by the manufacturer. Alkaline batteries are often recommended for best performance because zinc carbon batteries have inferior life spans.

Batteries are not in original Duracell sealed package. The picture is deceptive. I was excepting these batteries to be in original package as shown in the picture. Since they are not in original package, I tested these batteries with a meter and they read 1.6V.

These batteries are Made in China. Other Duracell batteries I purchased are Made in USA.

Dead Batteries

Window shade remote takes 2 AAA batteries. I bought a 16-pack of Duracell, and the first two I tried didn't work. Hmm... Took those out and tried two more from the fresh pack. Still no juice! What?! I retrieved the 2 Panasonic batteries that I had put in the trash and tried them. Bingo! The shades rolled up and down like a charm. (I change batteries yearly, not not just when they die out.) The 5-star company I ordered from "does not offer refunds." LOL 5 stars from whom?? The Amazon rep I spoke to quickly and graciously did offer me a refund, however. BTW, I had called Duracell first, and they said "Don't buy batteries online." The AA I bought at the same time from another company on Amazon are working great, but the AAA were junk.

A surprise at the disappointment

I buy nothing but Duracell. They are remarkably long lived and I am well aware of what I can expect from the product. I put these in towards the end of December 2016. I put them in some battery powered candles with the moving plastic flame and I haven't had them on for more than a couple of minutes at a time to show some friends. The candles are quite clever.
Well, I thought that I would get another short look at the candles today, May 9, and only 1 of the 5 candles worked. Each uses 3 batteries. This is not the performance that Duracell provides. I am not certain as to how these came to be sold on Amazon but they are not as advertised.
I will stick with the hardware store sales of the Duracell. These have a 10 year shelf like? Not even 6 months.

Never buying Duracell again--all 24 were DOA

Update: Raising from one star to four. Duracell's staff did answer the phone (took a while, but everyone is working from home, tough times) and they sent me a replacement coupon. So I'm upgrading from one to four stars. The batteries must have suffered in pre-shipment storage but I'm OK with the company's response. This is the first issue I have ever had with Duracell.

As I write this I have been on hold with Duracell for almost a half an hour--they don't answer their phones, so don't waste your time.

I bought this package of 24 AAs with a 10-year guarantee on July 19, 20020. I opened them a few weeks later (the Amazon return window closed on August 19th) and every single one of the batteries is dead. Zero charge. They were kept in a sealed package in normal temps the entire time. What a waste of money.

I've been a Duracell buyer my entire life, but never again. These batteries are obviously either knock-offs (shame on Amazon if they are) or just crap batteries. Either way: I will never buy Duracell again.

Oh, on hold now for 38 minutes. I don't give up easily. Don't buy Duracell.

I purchased a 16 pack of AAA through Amazon in late October 2020. The expiration dates (according to the batteries) appear to be a mixture--some have March 30 while others have July 2027. Some are bad and have either been DOA or go bad within days of use in a remote.

I am just now examining them more closely and it appears the March 2030 ones are made in the EU while the bad ones have a manufacture date of Aug 2020 with expiration of Aug 2027. But even worse, they say "Not for Retail Sale" on the side and they are made in China! How can these batteries all be sold in the same package together? The back of the package says "Made in EEUU", meaning, made in USA. Are these counterfeit? Ther is a typed batch number in the bottom right hand corner, 0229850317 31.

Anyone else have this issue?

I purchased these batteries and after 10 of them for past couple months, realized they are not lasting long at all.

I've used 8 of them already and was wondering why they only lasted a couple months in my remotes (TV & Audio components) so before installing the next pair, I decided to check the voltage. Despite the outer casing being labelled "Mar 2028", the voltage on all of them are approximately 0.800 volts.

At this point, I can't ask for a return because I only have 8 remaining. I never expected Duracell batteries to have low voltage after sitting for just 2 months. I keep them stored in a drawer with other batteries that I also tested and they are all holding correct voltage. Only these Duracell AAA are low.

I do not recommend these batteries. I have no explanation why these batteries would be defective as I've never experienced this in the past with Duracell. I can only speculate this batch that Amazon got was bad.

- Duracell batteries tend to last longer than other brands when used in most electronics, especially video game controllers
- package has a cut out at the back for pulling the batteries out/keeping them organized in the package, but package could be more box like in order to help with storing them

As a rule, I have used name brand batteries in the past but I did try to use a no name brand to see how it would hold up in terms of longevity. Well they may be less expensive but their longevity is not good. So I went back to Duracell which has proven to me that even though you pay more, you are getting a product that will perform extremely well. I primarily use the AAA for my television remotes, computer mouse and my little flashlight (which I use a lot as my cats like to chase the little “red dot” option) Anyway these batteries last far longer than other name brands I have tried. Value for money is great!

I ran life tests on AA and AAA Duracells, and the AAs are 2.5 times longer lived. I modified my forehead LED light to use AAs and there's quite a difference. However, our blood pressure cuff uses AAAs and so does our LED flashlights, so we're stuck. The ones rec'd yesterday from Amazon have a full 10 years from 2020.

I've been buying these batteries for my sons toys for the last few years, seems every child's toy these days uses lots of batteries. Both my son and I have a tendency to forget to turn them off, so battery drain is a common occurrence in our house. These batteries tend to last longer than other brands and stay stronger longer. I can notice the lights on his toys dim quicker with other batteries, especially our rechargeables. I really hate consuming so many batteries but some toys need that extra power than my rechargeables cant seem to provide or they just drain quickly, thats where these come in.

The batteries I received have a guarantee date of December 2025, so 8 years from date of purchase. They are guaranteed 10 so these are at least 2 years old already. Non issue for me as I expect my sons toys to use them all within a year.
