I bought this humidifier because I discovered in the apartment I recently moved into, the heat makes the air in the apartment very dry. I wake up every cold morning with a dry mouth and my allergies bothering me.

I decided to purchase this for my bedroom just to run at night. My bedroom is probably 20' by 30', not very high ceilings, and even with this humidifier on high all night, I don't notice a difference. Plus, it is very loud on the high setting, almost at loud as an air conditioner. I also have a hard time believing that the tank is really 2 gallons. I haven't measured, but it barely seems 1 gallon in size.

It is advertised that it will last 3 full nights per refill, but that is on the low setting, and only if you sleep 6-7 hours a night. I'm sure it may work for a smaller room, probably a good buy for a kid's room, but not for any rooms that are even medium in size. Overall, go for a bigger and quieter humidifier, even if you have to pay a little extra cash.

I am mostly pleased with this humidifier. We actually purchased two of them and they do a good job of bringing the humidity in the bedrooms up from 27% when we go to bed to about 54% when we get up. It is very easy to clean and fill. My only complaint about it is that the fan motor does not always seem to run at a constant speed. I'm able to hear a slight "zroom... zroom" noise that I have trouble falling asleep to. No one else in the house can hear this sound and therefore they think it's a great white noise machine. So maybe only super sensitive sleepers will be bothered by the up and down sound of the fan. The good news is that it doesn't do it all of the time and by morning it seems to have evened out. But the humidity is really great.

Like others said....this is great for a kids room, but we also used it for ours as well.
The low setting really isn't that loud, and the high setting is a great 'white noise' maker for kiddos (or hubbies that are used to the sound of a fan during summer months ;p).
And while this may not be the greatest humidifier ever, it is kind of a 'get what you pay for' scnerio.
Ie for us, at least, it was money well spent.

Love it! Love it! Love it! I love this humidifier because it acts as a great noise maker. I mean if you have it on you can't hear anything outside your bedroom. I have it in my daughter's room so we can still have the TV loud and make noise and she doesn't wake up. Great for kids room.

Love the humidifier. Had an older model that we've had for 15 plus years and the motor finally died. Use this one and used the old one in our bed room which ran 24-7 throughout the winter months. Runs great and does what it's built to do. Easy to fill and requires little to no maintenance. Change filters once a year prior to winter use, fill it and your set. I'd recommend this unit to anyone.

In the past, I've bought heated humidifiers and cool mist humidifiers. This thing is just a spongey "filter" thing that soaks up water, with a fan that blows air around it. That's why it calls it self a "NATURAL cool mist humidifier" with a claim of an "automatic moisture balance system." Because it's not like the cool mist humidifiers you're thinking of. This is basically a $35 (at my local hardware store) fan with a dish of water. That's right, folks, the automatic moisture balance system is that the water is just allowed to evaporate. And as the humidity in the room rises, the amount of water evaporating into the air falls. Because science.

So it might actually be good for a small bedroom, because it is a nice white noise machine on the low setting, and since it's just letting the water evaporate, you won't get that thing with regular humidifiers where the walls are soaked in perspiration in the winter.

Buuuuut yeah, two stars because you can just buy a fan and set out a bowl of water in front of it. And it would be easier to clean, and you wouldn't need to buy replacement filters.

If you already have to turn the TV up to max to hear, you may not mind the blower on this unit. It overpowers a room. If you need quiet to sleep, do not buy this unit. I withstood the noise for 2 hours, now it is back in the box, out with the next trash pickup. I couldn't tell you if it humidifies, but it probably does. So if you need it in a room you don't occupy, you might find it does the job for you.

We have used this humidifier for several years - it is great. We have a 12'x12' bedroom so the machine works well on the low setting for the space. The high setting is loud but when it is really cold and the heat kicks on several times through the night the low setting is sufficient to keep dryness and allergy aggrevations at bay.
