Product Description

Size: 20 Ounce

Founded in 1929, Duralex has been manufacturing glassware and tabletop products in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, a city in the heart of France. Since 1939, when Duralex invented the glass tempering process, the name Duralex has been associated with resilient glassware, thanks to their proprietary tempering process. The original tempered (toughened) Picardie glasses are still in production in France and are known as the “Original French Tumblers.” The Picardie glass is the perfect weight: functional yet stylish and feels extremely comfortable in the hand. They are equally suitable for cold or hot drinks, conveniently stackable, impact and chip resistant, microwave and dishwasher safe. With the help of continuous investments and commitment to quality, Duralex has reached a level of excellence that makes its products recognized throughout the world. Duralex is and will always remain a true French manufacturer of glassware and tabletop products, and is the only glass manufacturer that makes 100% of their products in France.

I have both the 20oz and the 64oz, along with several small ones. In the past I have used Luminarc and Pyrex - I find the shape of these Duralex to be FANTASTIC.

The 20oz is perfect for freezing individual portions of soup, pasta etc. The design allows frozen food to easily slide out if you don't plan on microwaving or baking straight from the freezer (just don't fill above the bottom of the lip if you're freezing something-I've found that to be a perfect amount of space for expansion). I've even used the small ones to freeze ice "cubes" for punch bowls and ice chests. I also like that the same size ones can "nest" for consolidated storage unlike the round working glass Luminarc containers.

I like to bake occasionally and have found that the pre-measured sizes come in handy since I only have one dry measuring cup.

As a single person I find I use the 3/4cup size and the 20oz the most, however the 68oz comes in handy if I want to put my lunch all in the same container - I can put a sandwhich, fruit, napkin/fork/spoon, cup of yogurt or whatever all in a single container and instead of wiping out a lunch box if something spills it can go in the dishwasher. I also use these to serve in when company comes over and the small ones are great for butter, etc on the table and then left overs just need a lid put on them - It's so easy and saves on dishes, water, electric, and time!

The only thing to be really careful about is making sure the lid is fully secured ALL the way around.

I will be buying more of these.
