Over the past two months, I have been surprised at how wonderful they are, and what a difference they've made in my quality of life. I hadn't realized that I had been drinking out of cheap copies of this particular design for all my life. But the subtle difference between those knockoffs and these classic tumblers was significantly noticeable with daily use.
The delicate rise in the beltline of these glasses -- a feature that's absent in the cheap knockoffs -- gives my fingers an inviting place to hold onto. The slightly flared lip at the top allows a more pleasing interface between glass and mouth. The feel of the glass itself is smoother and easier to grip than any other I've encountered. And the feeling of bulletproof durability is unmistakeable (even though I'm sure these tumblers are not bulletproof).
The result? A delightful, profoundly different experience while drinking liquids that affects me multiple times every day. It's hard for me to believe that a mere piece of glassware could be so pleasant, but there it is. I can't recommend these glasses enough. They're a delight to have and to hold and they've genuinely improved my life by a tiny, yet persistent degree.
In comparison, our prior Luminarc glasses are much less durable and are not stackable. I would say the Luminarcs are a bit less stylish; others might call it a draw.
Anyway, after several Luiminarc's broke, I went on a hunt for a better everyday glass and found these. Have dropped them in the sink without shattering. When I tripped and tried to break my fall, have accidentally hit the lower part of one somewhat hard against the edge of our granite countertop -- I was surprised the glass did not break. Have bought some on Amazon and some at Williams Sonoma.

Do NOT buy these "500ml" glasses expecting to be able to pour a 500ml bottle of beer into them, you can't.
Durable and made from toughened glass, these beauties are made to withstand the rigours of family life.
As a child, I remember they were used in schools due to their ability to shatter like a car window rather than in to shards. It's kind of nostalgic to see that the numbers are still there - We used to look at the bottom of the glass and see how old we were!
