Founded in 1929, Duralex has been manufacturing glassware and tabletop products in la chapelle-saint-mesmin, a city in the heart of France. Since 1939, when Duralex invented the glass tempering process, the name Duralex has been associated with resilient glassware, thanks to their proprietary tempering process. The original tempered (toughened) picardie glasses are still in production in France and are known as the “original french tumblers.” The picardie glass is the perfect weight: functional yet stylish and feels extremely comfortable in the hand. They are equally suitable for cold or hot drinks, conveniently stackable, impact and chip resistant, microwave and dishwasher safe. With the help of continuous investments and commitment to quality, Duralex has reached a level of excellence that makes its products recognized throughout the world. Duralex is and will always remain a true french manufacturer of glassware and tabletop products, and is the only glass manufacturer that makes 100-percent of their products in France.

Update 2018-02-18: After two years, I am happy to say I have not had any issues with these chipping or breaking. I've used them mostly for storing things in the fridge, a little bit of freezer and microwave use, and washing them regularly in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, I've recently come to realize that while I assumed when I bought them that they were borosilicate vs soda ash because of the lack of reviews of them breaking, there's nothing on Duralex's website to indicate this, and now I'm seeing reports of shattering. This doesn't mean they're not borosilicate, but without any indication one way or the other, it's impossible to know. And you would think that if it were, they would want people to know. Furthermore, I contacted them to inquire about this, and not only did they not answer, but they sold my email (or gave it away, as it looks like the company I got email from with it may be a sister company). This is reprehensible behavior. I considered lowering my rating due to this alone, but I have decided for now to just not raise it for the 2 years of use without issue. I'll report back if I end up getting more spam from the email.
