Great characters, good storyline, unexpected happenings all lend themselves to a great read.
Even this book is geared towards young adults, I thoroughly enjoyed the book at 60+ years and can't wait until the next book comes out. The characters are strong, believable and as real as real can get. The book's characters grow and evolve throughout the book and you wonder what else do these teens have to endure to survive after "first night". We read and "watch" Chong go from a weak, nerdy type of character to an all out warrior and read as he realizes his potential and makes mistakes along the way but learns from them. I particularly singled out Chong as his character evolved the most of all the characters in my opinion. Very nicely done!!
Having read all of Mr. Maberry's other books, his young adult series does not lack what his other books have. It is right up there with the rest of them.
I really don't know which of Mr. Maberry's books is my favorite as I have liked all of his writings and can't wait to read more of them!
This is writing at it's best!!
