Product Description

Product Description

The Dustless Technologies 16003 Wet/Dry Vacuum is the perfect tool for messy jobs. Complete with a dual filtration system and optional micro pre-filters, the 16003 can vacuum from dry to wet without having to switch filters. An interior baffle wall will protect the filters from getting wet and prevent overfilling. The filters are machine washable. This is not a HEPA vacuum, though it is rated at .5 microns of filtration. For a fully certified HEPA vacuum, see the Dustless Technologies 16006 or D1606 models. This vacuum is capable of capturing tiny dust particles and will never blow dust into the air. Excellent choice for contractors and DIY homeowners who do not need to meet EPA or OSHA guidelines but want effective and economical dust control. Includes (1) 16003 Wet/Dry Vacuum, (1) outer filter, (1) inner filter, (2) 13141 micro pre-filter bags, (1) 12 foot hose, (1) crevice tool, (1) floor tool, and (2) extension wands. Replacement parts are as follows: 13001 Outer/Inner Filter Package; 13141 Micro Pre-Filter Bags.

If all you need is something to suck Fritos and Cheetos off the floorboard of your pickup truck, buy a typical shop vacuum. But if you're looking for protection from harmful airborne dust created from diamond tools or drywall sanding, or if you're looking for ways to save time and money and increase productivity, look no further than the Dustless Technologies 16003 Wet/Dry Vacuum.

Outperforms Traditional Shop Vacuums
Dust from diamond tools and drywall sanding is extremely fine, like talcum powder, and the tiniest particles (the dangerous ones) blow right through the filter of a typical shop vacuum. When traditional shop vacuums are fitted with baffles, or supplemental filters, for removing finer dust, they can clog up quickly. Airflow is restricted and the vac's ability to pull the dangerous dust out of the air is reduced.

Thankfully, the Dustless Wet/Dry Vacuum solves all these problems.

Two Layers of Filtration for a Dust-Free Jobsite
With the Dustless Technologies 16003 Wet/Dry Vacuum, you won't have to worry about your wet/dry vac leaving a layer of fine dust or coughing out airborne particles when you turn it on.

Designed to handle extra-fine dust from concrete, stone, fiberglass, drywall, and more, the 16003 works with a patented two-filter system to effectively collect and keep the dust in the vacuum where it belongs.

Clean Filters Without the Mess
The primary filter can be cleaned without opening the vacuum and allowing dust to escape into the air. Simply shake the agitator rod to dislodge debris and dust, and you can get right back to vacuuming.

Both the primary and secondary filters are made out of machine-washable, synthetic fabric, so you'll never have to buy replacement filter bags for this vacuum.

Optional Micro Pre-Filter is Economical and Efficient
The ultimate in filtration is a HEPA filter, which captures airborne particles down to 0.3 microns. Dustless has a certified HEPA version of the Wet/Dry Vacuum, but if you want to save money, and you don't have to use a certified HEPA vacuum to meet OSHA, EPA or NIOSH guidelines, an economical alternative is to use the 16003 Wet/Dry Vacuum with an optional Micro Pre-Filter, which is available at one-tenth of the price of a HEPA filter.

As efficient as it is economical, the optional Micro Pre-Filter captures particles down to a half a micron--that's 0.0025", the width of a human hair. And because it can be a challenge to prevent clogs in such a fine filter, Dustless Technologies has made the Micro Pre-Filter oversized to give it more surface area--no other vacuum does the same. In fact, the wet/dry vac will maintain suction power with up to 40 pounds of dust--the Micro Pre-Filter itself can hold up to 80 pounds of dust.

Vacuums Liquids Without Hassle
Unlike other wet/dry vacuums, the 16003 allows you to go from dry to wet vacuuming without stopping to change the filters. When water is captured by the vacuum, it drains down the interior wall of the tank, away from the filters--a check ball prevents the water from rising up to the filters or motor.

This clever vac also features an automatic air shut off for all wet pickups, protecting the motor from filling with too much water. The included 12-foot hose can be used for drainage, and the drain can be regulated to drip or flow freely.

Quiet and Powerful with Convenient Tool Storage
The 16003 emits only 81 decibels of noise and has a powerful motor that produces 23,000 RPM. This means you'll get maximum, consistent suction, even when the vacuum contains 40 pounds of dust and debris. For further convenience, the 16003 wet/dry vacuum comes with a full set of tools that store right on the unit.

100% Recommended by Handyman Club of America
Tested by Handyman Club of America, the Dustless Technologies 16003 Wet/Dry Vacuum received a 100% approval rating. After using the 16003 in their homes, shops, and jobsites, 13 testers gave the wet/dry vac an overall member rating of 9.3. Performance scored a 10, and rating against similar products was an 8.1.

the ONLY vac you'll ever cherish. I had a brand new Dyson cordless stick vacuum but it died during big jobs and I couldn't vacuum the giant river of water in my dog's eating area nor could I battle my whole unfinished basement - let alone pet hair tumbleweeds throughout our three bedroom two-story house!... I'll set the scene:1 cat (to which I'm allergic), 1 elderly English Mastiff (180 lbs!), and 1 neat freak roommate... This vacuum solved everything. It's helped me battle endless spider webs in my unfinished basement, pet dander, post-party nastiness, pet urine soaked into cement (yeah, major eww), ashtray fails (discarded cigarette butts) in the cracks of my outdoor porchboards... It takes on just about anything you throw at it.Honestly, I can't say enough wonderful things about how this vac has made my life easier. Get it, you'll see, I've had it for two years and not once has it let me down. Sure, it's an investment, but why mess around when you can buy 1 item that you can rely on time-and-time again❤️.

It works great with the filter bag (one is included). The hose is long enough for a room but can't quite reach across my garage (including the cable). Suction isn't good enough to pick up weightier objects like blocks of wood, but is fantastic for dust. I bought a squeegee attachment and was pleased with how well it worked. My only complaint is the price, which, of course, I agreed to when I bought it. It still stings though when you find the exact vacuum at a thrift store for $40.

After a crew jackhammered, broke out, & replaced 31' of my solid concrete basement wall, I had fine masonry dust on every single surface in my house. I knew I needed some type of ash vac to handle this job or the fine dust would end up going right through the filter of a typical shop vac. I was initially hesitant to spend the money but eventually decided on this vacuum. In the end it was a great decision.

The vacuum worked perfectly during 2 five hour marathon sessions of continuous operation. No loss of suction at any point and no dust! I purchased and used an optional hepa filter bag as extra insurance though I'm not sure it was necessary...at the very least it will make emptying the vac easier. The hose is high quality...much nicer than my old cheap craftsman vac hose...and the attachments are nice too. Also, I am very sensitive when it comes to my hearing. At some points I would not wear ear protection and I could still handle it so I'm pleased with the volume as well.

Yesterday I knocked out a plaster wall and replaced with drywall. I vacuumed up chunks of both materials and this thing kept going. I used to vacuum up drywall dust and get it right back through my old vac. Now that I've spent the money, I keep wondering why on earth anyone would buy a standard shop vac when this is available.

Note: I bought a used vac from Amazon that was described as "like new". I assumed it was going to be an unused return. When I opened the box and wood chips fell out I knew otherwise. There were scratches and marks on several of the tools as well. It worked fine so I dealt with it. A couple days later I realized the tool holder was not in the box. To amazon's credit they credited me back the cost of the holder and I ordered it directly from the company myself. In the end I was happy with the 33% savings.

Bottom line: A great Vacuum cleaner, a little pricey but buying used may be ok.

This vacuum has a superior filtration system and a very powerful motor. The lid is attached with plastic clips that are poorly manufactured. They break very easily. I am a general contractor and we use many vacuums on our jobs. I returned the vacuum when I discovered how poorly designed these clips are. Such a great product, and yet such a weak aspect in a critical component. Unacceptable and very disappointing. I would never buy this vacuum.

Had heard such great things about this vacuum, so I bought it. I'm a little disappointed. The suction is great, but the quality is less than great. Two of the clips that hold down the top broke almost immediately. The hose does not have a clip to hold it in place and keeps pulling out if you pull on it even a little bit. We are in construction and have always used Sears Craftsman vacuums, but lately they have not been lasting, which is why I thought we would try a different brand. The biggest problem with this vacuum is a safety item. I was wearing a scarf around my neck when the hose pulled out and I bent over to put it back in. My scarf was pulled into the motor on top and started chocking me before I could get the machine turned off. There is no safety warning on top that warns against keeping loose items away. I would not purchase this vacuum again.

For its price this vacuum cleaner is OK. I'm a bit disappointed with its power and the manual lacks a clear description how to install the dust bag. I guess I figured it out, but I'm still not sure if it is installed right.

My old vacuum would toss out dust when turned on and would often fall over and then spit out clouds of dust when used next. This vacuum definitely seems to be fairly dust free. I've attached it to sanders and saws and no longer have to clean up all the plaster, saw dust, etc..

Update:
I discovered a crack in the top lid that I didn't notice at first. While I initially posted that the suction was poor, this appears to have been why. The company said the box must have been dropped at least 10 feet during shipping for that kind of damage to occur. Dustless sent me a new motor section, though they also required me to package and ship the old one back to them. While inconvenient, I'm pleased with how the company dealt with it.

I bought this unit to keep drywall dust in my basement I am finishing to a minimum, using the floor attachment to clean all the dust that was on the floor from before I got the unit, and also to attach to a Porter Cable sander. Not a bit of dust escaped the vacuum, and it worked perfectly with the Porter, allowing almost no dust at all to escape during the sanding of the walls and ceiling of an additional 1300 square feet I am finishing in my house. The suction could be a little bit better if you are wanting to use this also as a general shop vac, but for picking up small particles, and as long as you install the "optional" pre filter bag, this works as advertised.

UPDATE 8/1/12

Used the vac for another major project drywalling a new room. Still works like the day I bought it. I have gone through quite a few of the pre filter bags and they never clog or lose suction. When I empty them they typically have 30 lbs or so of drywall dust and other particles. I love this thing.

Update 2/20/15

Still works like the day I bought it. Just happened to come across this 5 year old review of mine and thought I would add an update. I have had multiple handymen and small contractors that I let use it to clean up drywall and all have commented that it is worth it's weight in gold.

3.0 out of 5 stars Basically a superior filter in a plastic box.

Small yellow latches that hold the top down are poorly engineered considering the high price of this product. Found that they are troublesome to keep in place. Manufacturer should consider replacing with a metal bracket. All you're buying is a plastic bucket with a superior filter. Any shop vac using this type of filter would be 75% cheaper then this unit.
