Duty is a story that consumed me from the get go. I liked a story when two people have to marry and don't necessarily like each other. Brielle and Tomas have great chemistry and both seem to be levelheaded. I found that Brielle is a strong leading lady and has her wits about her. Tomas is a soldier who has many battle wounds yet is tender and caring with Brielle. I felt like Tomas and Brielle were equally matched and had to learn to trust one another. I felt Ms. Rossano did a impressive job with Tomas's character flaws and all. I liked him a lot. I really like when the character seem real and they felt that way to me in Duty. I kinda felt the story was a little rushed. I would have enjoyed a little more foundation for Tomas and Brielle's relationship before they were separated. This story has a lot of movement in a short amount of time. It would have been nice to be in one location longer than a night. That being said I still found Duty to be a beautifully written story, filled with romance, mystery and some unexpected events! I will be looking forward to Ms. Rossano's next stroy! I hope you all enjoy this read as much as I did!

Just FYI~ This story does contain some violence, but no sex or swearing

Duty reads like a historical novel, but it's set in a land called Rhynan. After a brutal civil war, Tomas is ordered to marry Brielle to strengthen the allegiances in the region. Brielle does her duty and accepts the arranged marriage, but Tomas has to earn her love and respect. Their journey to a satisfactory end is interrupted by deceit and violence. Duty was everything I expected from Rachel. I love her characters. I love the action. I love the kissing. I love the romance. The only thing I hate about Rachel's books is finishing one...and waiting for the next one. I hope it comes fast, because I'm already anxious to read it.

I really liked this book! I have read others from this author but this is the BEST one so far...hoping for sequels...exciting, romance, knights and awonderful marriage of convenience...without all the sex scenes just to get people to read....PLEASE write some more like this one...maybe not in the first person though...only thing I did not like would have liked to know more of H's point of view...oh well can't have eveything...recommend this book..fell in love myself with Tomas!

This book is simply amazing. The story is told in first person from the heroine's perspective, but it's done in a very different way from most first story narratives. You don't find Brielle giving her opinion or assumptions over and over as is the case of most first person stories. The author makes it very easy to forget the fact that it is first person. This book has a rhythm and a flow to it that will sweep you away and keep you floating in the engaging plot, the endearing romance, and the epic convictions of Duty that bring these characters together. It's got the sweetest romance while keeping it very clean at the same time. The author does a wonderful job of making her character's struggles come off the page and grip your heart. You don't just read this book; you find yourself investing in these people and rooting for their love, their convictions, and their outcome as Duty brings them together and love keeps them that way! Recommend this book and this author! Get it, read it; you won't regret it!

Duty is an adventurous fantasy story with danger, adventure, and romance. From the very first page I found myself drawn into this world, cheering for Brielle in the difficult circumstances in which she finds herself. What I liked most about this book was the level of description. All the senses are engages as you hear the sounds, see the sights, and smell the smells of Rhynan. And while this is a fantasy book set in a well-developed world, it does not include any of the magic elements that can be controversial for some readers.

The plot, the characters, and the setting were great. There were only a few minor things that I did not like about this novel. The main issue is that, with so many characters, it is hard to keep track of them - especially as the characters travel a lot and separate into different groups. Also, at the very beginning I wondered what direction the story was headed. (The book begins with the main character discovering that her hand has been given in marriage to a man she has never met, so you can imagine where that could go...) Thankfully, the author is careful in her descriptions and "fades to black" at the appropriate moments.

If you are looking for a new fantasy read with adventure and romance, Duty is a great beginning. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

This story has all aspects of a medieval type romance in a fictional kingdom: likeable characters, good storyline, decent writing style, villains, intrigue, chivalry, and clean romance.

The reason for 3 stars is that a few parts felt choppy, but not bad. Also, while both are attractive people (values as well as looks) I felt relationship development was a bit too fast; maybe choppy because necessity of war. It's hard to develop any real relationship when things are constantly being interrupted.

I would probably read more by this author.
