The deciding factor in purchasing the Dynaglow was the numerous comments about the great customer service from the parent company GHP Group. Good customer service is a rare commodity these days and I am happy to say the customer service from GHP Group is not just good it is SPECTACULAR.
When my grill was delivered one side panel was bent in transit. It was not unusable, however I decided to delay assembly and contact GHP for a replacement. I got a service representative on the phone immediately who expedited shipment of a replacement panel and two additional packages of the stainless steel screws and washers. Unfortunately the shipping department sent the left panel and I needed the right panel. They are not interchangeable so I called back and got a super nice lady named Guadaloupe who regretfully informed me the panel I needed was back-ordered three months. OUCH! Oh well, I guess I'm using the bent one. I asked Guadaloupe to put me on order and she said the panel would ship as soon as it was available. I called Amazon, explained the situation and they gave me a 50% refund on the cost of the grill. High five to Amazon as well for awesome customer care. Now the big grin surprise. The NEXT DAY UPS delivered the correct panel from GHP. I am assuming they opened a complete grill package and sent me the panel. That's the way to run a business and I was justifiably blown away.
Now for the grill.
This is not an expensive grill. I don't need a $1500 grill. I know how to build stuff so I appreciate a well designed and engineered product. This is one! The manual is superb and easy to follow. The fire box of the grill is enameled steel not paint or powder-coated. If cared for enameled steel will last forever if you don't chip it and perform regular cleaning. All screw holes were CNC punched and fitted with brass thread collars. Every hole was precise and the fitment of all components was perfect. The base and sides of the grill are powder coated steel with stainless steel doors. A twice-yearly coating of good car wax should result in the non-stainless panels lasting for years. (You wax your car don't you?)
If you are handy you should be able to assemble this grill in no more than two hours. I took a bit longer because I'm super precise and take my time.
I have not as yet cooked on this grill and I will amend this review after testing it with some good steaks. Stay tuned....
Update August 18 2017...
We have grilled out three times since I wrote the initial review. We grilled Prime sirloin steaks, hamburgers and also corn, okra and asparagus. The grill on first fire-up test reached 550 degrees in six minutes running all four burners as instructed. That's fabulous. Now I've read comments that people were unhappy the grill did not reach 800 degrees. I'm not sure why someone would want that much heat unless you are trying to cremate a dead cat.
The grill cooked fabulously on everything. I also used the side burner with a perforated stainless steel grill pan to grill the asparagus which was brushed with olive oil and salt. It grilled the asparagus so fast and perfectly I realized in the future to use the side burner for grilling at the very end of the rest of the grilling cycle.
Now the dirty part... LOL
This grill is the easiest grill to clean I have EVER seen. The porcelain coated interior makes a complete cleaning a breeze. The removable stainless grill bottom is brilliant. I soaked it down with Totally Awesome cleaner from Dollar Tree and 95% of the crud came right off with two applications and rinsing with a power spray from the hose. The crud that falls onto the tank and interior is easily washed out from the rear of the grill base and if the grill is on a slight incline the sloped bottom of the front of the grill directs all the water right out. The stainless grill plates and burner plates go right into the dishwasher. Done!
I also want to add I have no vested interest in GHP Group. This is an honest review of a product that deserves to be acknowledged.
The grill is light weight, and unfortunately has yet to generate more than a 450 degree temperature with the top closed (the temp gauge goes up to 800 degrees). The BTU's per square inch comes out to about 83, 100 BTUs/Sq In is sort of the standard.
Description says surface will hold 24 hamburgers, they'd have to be on the small side to fit in my opinion.
Also the dimensions given are the over all dimensions and include the side shelves that is not the grilling size.
