I have an 4 wheel drive Volvo which likes to have 4 equally worn tires. If you don't change all tires at the same time you risk breaking your drivetrain.
That out of the way - I had 4 tires on it's last quarter of life - but still a year left or so. Then got a nail into one of those tires - still in the thread but close to the sidewall.
Brought it to the shop and they didn't want the liability for a repair since they put in a patch on the inside which is not possible in this region. So I went on amazon and found this product.
Thought I give it a try, it was skinny nail and spending $700 on a new set of tires on car which I'm not drive much anymore (home office thanks to the pandemic)
remove the nail with some pliers
loaded the tool - and tried to push it into the whole.
Man those tires are tough! pushing it through took me a while and a lot of force.
then I just pulled it - which was easy and the rubber cord was sticking out - cut that of with some snipers and done.
Filled the tire with air and let it sit over night. Next day I checked - exactly the same value as the day before.
With the nail I lost about 2-3 psi over night. Now it was zero. Started driving the car as normal.
Checked again the next days - zero change.
Checked again a week later - perfect pressure
Checked again a month later - perfect pressure.
So these thing works. Not sure if I would use it in a big whole - put a small puncture repair (2-3mm) 1/8 turned out nice.
