How can someone not like Dynasty Warriors. I can play this game for hours even though I shouldn't. I did find this game a challenge and I found myself having to upgrade my character in free mode to finish the story mode. Great game. I did buy it used and holy cow there was not one scratch on the disk!
I recommend buying it used because of the great price and the quality of the disk and gameplay was superb. No need to waste $40 on a new one.

I'll preface this review with the fact that the last Dynasty Warriors (DW) game I played was DW3 for PS2. This game is a behemoth leap forward in every aspect.

The fighting is nothing new, but certainly nothing has been taken away.
The arsenal of moves is much bigger than before, with ability to do many moves on horseback, "special" attacks from each characters, wildly varying chains, and even jumping attacks. Really makes the game more fun. You can play like my girlfriend, sitting on horseback shooting arrows, or like me, wildly charging into the fray praying my musuo charges before I die.
I love the graphics, how smooth the game plays, and how intuitive everything is. My girlfriend is not a gamer at all, but she asked if she could join a game, and she had it figured out in a few minutes (and is now addicted).
The one thing I would like would be "hints" scattered when you first start - for example "You seem to be a long ways from your horse. Press the down button to call him"
Overall, this game is a blast, and won't be a let down for a first time DW'er, and if you're coming from an OLD DW game, this is a great buy.

Good ol' dynasty warriors, but oddly lacking

I love dynasty warriors. Been buying it since #3. However, this one was just lacking in a lot of areas. There are only like 5 musou campaigns for each kingdom, which results in WAY less campaigns than previous games. Also, I have the weapon system. I liked it when you progressed through levels of weapons, and it was possible to get a special weapon for each character. Here, the different weapons don't seem to have any difference - the first one and a level three one might be exactly the same stat wize.
Just in general, lacking compared to old games.

Dynasty Warriors 6 was a rather enjoyable game but I was a little disappointed with the attack combos. Almost every character had the same weapons that came with the same attack/mousou attack. I was a little curious when I heard that Zhen Ji no longer her flute but was suddenly disappointed when I found out that she had the same weapon, attacks, and mousou attack as Diao Chan. Playing Sun Shang Xiang wasn't the same without her chakrams, but was still a little fun playing her with a bow and arrow. Although I loved the new costumes that they had given everyone but, I was upset to find out that one of my favorite characters, Da Qiao, was removed from Dynasty Warriors 6. I wouldn't highly recommend this game but I would somewhat recommend this game depending on the player and how they feel about the change-up in attacks.

My roommate and I have been long time Dynasty Warriors fans and really enjoyed DW3 for playstation 2. DW6 is just as fun if not more. The vastly improved graphics combined with even larger armies to slaughter makes this game Incredibly fun and entertaining.
I will say that I personally felt that this version was a bit more difficult than the previous, specifically with fighting commanders and such, but I like a good challenge. If you've played any of the previous versions and liked them, you will not be disappointing.
