I love the game its everything 8 was and a little more the only complaint i have is that you need the original version of DW8 in order to play all of the original story missions, And you need to re-sync it every week. SO i guess thats a downside to it..

Other than that there are a couple new things in the game 5 new playable characters, new weapons, the ability to fuse weapons, a new challenge mode and new story missions as well as being able to play as LU BU!

I have been a big fan of the DW series since DW4 over 10 years ago. This game has some great things but there are also some disappointments.
Let's start with the bad things. One big thing that was kind of annoying is that you basically need DW8 to play the full game of Xtreme Legends. You have to sync the Dynasty Warriors 8 disk to the game every so often. That's really frustrating. So the game is basically a dlc and not really a full game.
Second thing that really annoyed me is that while it was awesome to add a route for Lu Bu (about time!) but his route was very short and it ended with him dying regardless of how you play it. I understand that historically Lu Bu did get executed and die rather early in the three kingdoms era but come on! This is a video game. You can't make stuff up to make his route slightly longer and less disappointing? Koei certainly had no problem making up history in the past.
While all those things are very disappointing but the game overall is ok. I do really appreciate Lu Bu being included and playing the new characters from his kingdom (Chen Gong and Lu Linqi). That's nice.

My rating is so that you readers can see it, this game did not work for me. In an obscure error called 80028F10, the game was not able to open. It only occurs for a very small number of games when you have a Standard Definition Television as well as an NTSC PS3, which means that it is Japanese. It only happens if both are true. So if you have an old tv, be sure to cheack what type of console you have before buying this game.

what's new is a campaign for LU Bu, with 2 endings. also some new extra if-stages are available for the normal 4 kingdoms. new characters: Lu Linqi (Lu bu's daughter), Chen Gong, Fa Zheng, Yu Jin, and Zhu Ran. what? even Zhu ran? I think eventually you can play as Cao Bao in the DW series. original disc is required ONLY if you want to play (again) the original campaign of wei, shu, wu, and jin. otherwise you don't need the original disc. I sold mine already long time ago. also the ambition mode is expanded. there is now a part 2 after you construct the tong-jerk-tai. this is just an expansion but surprisingly it will keep you busy just like the original game. yes the game play is still repetitive, but that's expected on a DW game right? you must be a huge fan if you play thru DW 1-8 and still keep up to it.

I can't seem to find the ps4 version on here for some reason but it does exist. I have the version with Dynasty 8 and xtreme legends in one version. It sucks because I spent a lot of time playing 8 on the xbox 360 but no xtreme for the past two titles, 7 or 8. Xbox had been pretty good before that with 5 empires, 6 empires and strike force but then it's like they gave up. I'm not getting the new xbox if they don't have the games I like.

But as for the product itself I like it. I've only played Lu Bu's story mode so far. I beat the normal version and gone back and beat the alternate ending where Lu Bu wins. Some of the new characters are pretty cool. I like Lu Linqi even though she's a bit more girly than I thought Lu Bu's daughter would be. I figured she would be more burly like Zhu Rong. Chen Gong and Fa Zheng look like creepers. A good game.

What are you doing xbox?

Challenge mode feels tacked on. New characters and weapons are neat. You can merge your DW8 save file to continue where you left off. Level cap raised to 150 for the new difficulty mode. Ambition mode is expanded for more longevity. New stages for free mode and new hypothetical stages for each faction.

VERY similar to that of Dynasty Warriors 7; so if you've already played that one, do NOT get this one. The differences are very minimal at best and the stages are not any different as well. Would not recommend.
