MAD Magazine

4.2 out of 5 stars 157 customer reviews

  • The first print issue should arrive in 12-16 weeks. Details

International Addresses: Magazine subscriptions offered at Amazon.com can only be shipped within the 50 United States, APO/FPO address and U.S. Protectorates. We are unable to process magazines to other destinations at this time. Please contact the magazine's publisher for further assistance.

When to Expect Your First Issue: Magazine subscriptions ordered at Amazon.com are shipped to you by the magazine's publisher. The first issue of a weekly magazine should arrive within 4-6 weeks of your order. The first issue of a monthly magazine should arrive within 6-10 weeks, unless otherwise noted.

Once you've placed an order at Amazon.com, it can take one to two weeks for your subscription to be received and scheduled by the publisher. Your subscription is then added to the publisher's next production cycle and shipped via standard mail. For example, if your monthly subscription was ordered and received by the publisher in November, and the December issue has already shipped, your order may be added to the January mailing. You can find out more information, including how to contact the publisher about your subscription, in Amazon's Magazine Subscription Manager.

Renewing Your Subscription: If you are ordering as a renewal to the same name and address as the current subscription, the publisher will add the Amazon order to your current subscription. For example, if you have 5 issues left and you add 12 through Amazon, you will now have 17 issues left on your subscription. Please note that the expiration date in the Magazine Subscription Manager will not reflect if you were already on file with the publisher. We will work with the publisher to ensure that you still receive all of the issues left on your subscription.

Publication Frequency: Magazines which show "irregular" availability are those which are not published according to a regular schedule. If you place an order for such a magazine, you will receive new issues as soon as they are available.

  • Control your subscription settings anytime using Amazon's Magazine Subscription Manager.
  • If you purchase the auto-renewal offer, your subscription will renew for the same term length at the renewal rate available on Amazon. Cancel anytime.

I'm 58 years old & have been growing up with this great magazine for all these years and I can't wait until I definitively mature enough to be able to understand the deep thoughts of the information in side each & every issue!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Simply not what it used to be... January 30, 2011
By M
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal
I started reading this magazine in the early 90's, when I was a kid. My dad had a few from the 60's and 70's, and I have expanded my collection since then to include a good amount from the 80's. That stuff was brilliant.

Artists and writers die, we know that. New artists and writers can be good, but the MAD magazine of the 2000's isn't worth buying. Why did MAD start putting in ads? Wasn't it making enough money by itself? I loved MAD for the fact that it was ad-free, and the brilliant writing and artwork, laced with biting satire. Now, the humor in there is more of the "potty humor" level, and is the kind of thing juveniles laugh over.

Now it's not worth the paper it's printed on, and CRACKED magazine has gone the same way and already ended publication several years ago. Last time I read a MAD magazine, I found myself completely bored and impatient with it, and wondering how such a great magazine could have become so lackluster.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mostly a blast from the past April 11, 2011
Subscription Term Name:1 year|Verified Purchase
The magazine is hyper liberal which I am but honestly I keep politics and humor in two different parts of my brain. I still love it though. My only grip is they ship in no protection other than a light paper cover so the magazine usually looks awful after going through the mail system. For the cost they charge they should at least be in a plastic bag like every other magazine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not what it used to be, but still a great mag December 27, 2013
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal|Verified Purchase
One of the ways I knew that I had finally "made it" as an adult was when I could afford to subscribe to Mad Magazine. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. And then my son got old enough that he would swipe them when they come in the mail. So now it's really his subscription and not mine.

Honestly Mad Magazine isn't what it used to be. It used to come out once a month. It used to be thicker with a monthly parody of whatever movie or TV show was popular at the time. It even used to not have ads in it. Actually, I remember the issue when they begrudgingly added the UPC bar code to the cover.

The reality is, things change. I can't blame the publishers that some of the talented writers and illustrators whom I loved as a kid are not longer around. No Mad Magazine will ever seem complete without a Dave Berg "Lighter Side Of..." feature.

It's still a great magazine. They're still as irreverent as ever, if not more so.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for Kids March 30, 2014
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal|Verified Purchase
I bought this for my 11 year-old son, but it is not for kids. Either the jokes are over his head or something I wouldn't want him reading. Don't get me wrong, it's funny, just not for kids.

This was a gift for a teenager, but my husband also loves reading it. It is definitely a conversation starter in our house and gets read by several.

4.0 out of 5 stars My childhood life revolved around it ! September 18, 2013

I was going to give it a 3 because of the substandard comedic relief it exudes these days, but gone are the days when I used to wait eagerly for it. I have stopped subscription because they are so confused whether to keep the humor adult or tend to teenagers. The drawings are despicable and the humor is crass. Its too vulgar for my kids to read and has no irony or satires as in previous decades. The ads arent a problem, a previous reviewer had an issue with that, how does he think they can keep the mag so cheap ? And he doesnt have a problem buying other mags with ads ? Thats not right. Even my nephews now dont want me to hand out these mags to them anymore. I hope we could revive Don Martin & Al Jaffee, to name a few to bring the mag back !

Mad Magazine has been a part of my family since the early 1970s! This is one magazine I read through with my Dad and die laughing! He laughs, then shakes his head with a "shame on them"! These magazines were always a must read at my boarding school in Malaysia and it is so much fun when old friends visit and see this magazine on the coffee table...it's a trip down memory lane!

5.0 out of 5 stars it was just as funny as always
I hadn't read a MAD Magazine in at least 20 years. When I finally picked up a copy, it was just as funny as always. If you're a child at heart, as I am, you'll enjoy it.
