I excitedly unpacked the flash and installed it on my RX10 and set it to AUTO. I figured with TTL + AUTO it would give me the set it and forget it capabilities that I lacked on the Neewer TT560 that I had before. What a disappointment. The image was completely underexposed. Changing to the P mode and adjusting the ISO I was able to get a decent image, but I also had to play around with the EXP settings on the camera to get them, or effectively using it in manual mode.
On the a6000, it was able to get decent pictures in the AUTO mode, although it tended towards going to high ISO pictures and wide open apertures. Part of my hope for getting a TTL flash was to be able to get decent ISO's with smaller apertures, like I can do with the manual settings on my Neewer. It did allow me to use a lower ISO to a degree, but the sense I got was that it was definitely not as bright as my Neewer. I am going to try to return it but I'm not sure if its worth sending it back to China. I hope Amazon allows me to do Prime shipping back to the US.
Ultimately I was pretty disappointed by this- I was expecting to be able to just stick it on the camera and have it do the thinking for me, like my TTL Nikon SB400 used to do, but I guess I expected too much of it.
As a a6000 flash, I would rate it as a 3 star- I think if you increase the power to +1 or +2, it does ok, although it seems to burn through the battery pretty fast. As an RX10 flash, which it is advertised as, it is a 2 star. You'd be better off w/ the manual Neewer flash, which I'm a little sorry that I gave away at this point.
