But more importantly, this author hasn't the foggiest idea what she's talking about and has obviously never set foot in a biochemistry classroom. The entire book is a muddled incomprehensible facepalm. I could do a more thorough dissection, but let's take a common diet scam as an example. I've always laughed at the misunderstandings of blood pH (except when these misunderstandings are exploited and snake oil salesmen make money off of the ignorant). Make your body (more) alkaline? Your body has a carbonic acid buffer system that, thankfully for idiots who take this book seriously, prevents alkalosis (and acidosis) under standard conditions. More simply put: realistically, you can't change your blood pH by eating things. I learned that one as an undergrad (and again in medical school), for anyone who was wondering if her PhD is real (it isn't... online unaccredited university with hilariously bogus "PhD" requirements).
I don't know if you've ever seen her Facebook page, but I've literally gone back and forth as to whether or not she is a very talented and committed troll because half of what she posts is the new dumbest thing I've ever read. Yes, Nancy, massaging different parts of your hand *totally* cures other parts of the body, because that idea isn't the slightest bit ridiculous and a mechanism for that happening definitely exists. Really.
As someone going insane from stress trying to *actually* learn everything about the body, I beg you not to take advice from this book, David Wolfe, Food Babe, Mercola, GMOaners, anti-vaxers, and other people who spew scientifically unsupported nonsense. Things aren't true just because someone says they are. Careful scientific experimentation and subsequent meta-analysis of data is the best current method we have for telling apart true from false, and they simply do not use it.
The incoherent and uneven writing tone makes it even difficult to enjoy on a comic level.
So aside from redfining what altruism represents (why not share the content for no cost if altruism was the intent) this author has a checked history of unsubstantiated claims which the only support she has often provided is the claim of a dubious PhD.
Further it is endorsed by Food Babe so one must question what the associate kick back for that endorsement was.
