Determining Proper Width

When measuring the width of your window (A to B), be sure to consider whether you are hanging your curtain hardware on the inside or outside of the window trim. If you are aiming for a fuller, gathered look, make sure to multiply your measurement by 2.5x.

Consider the look you want to achieve and where you want the bottom of your curtains to fall. Panels are usually hung so they fall anywhere from the window sill (C to D) or to the floor (E to F). Typically, panels are hung 4 inches above the window frame.

I purchased these curtains to hang in my guest bedroom and because I have a big window and I'm not ready to turn in my heater. The color is a rich pretty blue which i really like. Any colors will match with this blue. I put the gold tables against the blue and it works great. The curtain has two options for hanging. I did not hang the way it's advertise because it drooped to much in-between the seams. I do like the option I chose even though I wanted the other option. Not sure how it's going to keep the chill from the window but it seems warmer already. I really like these and do plan on ordering a gray pair for the bedroom.

I ordered 3 of the 52x84 espresso curtains. When they arrived they appeared to be smaller than expected. And so, I measured them. The length was barley 80 and the width was just at 50. I am not sure who to speak to about having the issue resolved. But I bought these because they were supposed to a specific size. Now it throws things off. I know it’s only a few inches, but i paid for those few inches and planned on them being apart of the product for a specific look.

I like in a studio apartment, so space is a hot commodity for me. I'm also an avid musician and recording enthusiast, so half of my apartment has become my home studio. It's great for my productivity, but when I'm recording other people I have to sit very still and make no noise, because there's no doors between the main room and my desk area, just a doorway. I decided enough was enough, and searched for a good noise-cancelling curtain to hang in between. This was what I ended up picking, and I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.

The noise change is definitely noticeable. I can now move around while recording a take, even eat without worrying about messing up the sound. I wouldn't be confident enough to use my monitors with this, there would still be some bleed, but I can assure you just from using it while listening to loud music that the sound is definitely dampened in the other room. For regular use with a window, I'm sure outside noise becomes negligible.

An unexpected use of this was the temperature protection, or whatever you want to call it. My radiator is in the main room, and all of my equipment kind of acts as the heater of my little studio. But sometimes smoke can find it's way into the room...So the windows get cracked a bit. I don't mind the cold, so I never really cared, but when I started using this I noticed that my main room did not change in temperature one bit. Stepping from one side of the curtain to the other was a night and day temperature difference, literally. I was very impressed with that, and didn't even intend for that to be the case.

Overall, your use of this may be entirely different than mine, but I can still highly, HIGHLY recommend this. It is most definitely black, and I can assure you there's no light bleeding that I can notice, and the noise reduction and temperature maintenance is great. You can't go wrong.

UPDATE: 2 years later, I've expanded my set to include two of these curtains. I no longer live in a studio apartment, and my music studio now gets a standalone room! So I've had to change my approach to isolate sound when recording, but I now hang two of these blackout curtains in my bedroom so that I can wake up when I want to, not when that pesky sun wants me to! Great for people keeping odd schedules, people with cats that love the dark, people with music studio apartments, everyone!

My husband works night shifts so it is important for our bedroom to be as dark as possible. These curtains work very well and my husband was glad to be able to sleep more soundly. Our walls are painted light grey and we have a dark grey chair in front of the window. I went with the black curtains and they look nice in the room. My only complaint is, as others reported too, they are not all the same length. I have two large windows, I ordered 4 panels, put them two at a time in the dryer to fluff and remove wrinkles and then had to measure and figure out how to use them and have them still look nice. I have two panels that are the same so I put them on the same window. The other two panels are shorter and one much shorter. So I put the shortest one behind the chair. The bedroom is dark and that is the main point in having them but I think they need better quality control to be sure there is better consistency in the length. If these were for a living room I might have returned them, unless the sofa hid them. You should not have to hide a panel because it is too short and I am not about to hem the other ones to match. All things considered, they look nice in the room and block out the light so we can sleep during the day. The price was great as you might expect to pay more for curtains that really work. I would have given five stars if the lengths were all the same.

quite disappointed. the original ad listed the curtains as a pair. any dictionary i have checked defines a pair as two, well i got one curtain. even more disappointing is the ad and even the packaging listed the curtain as 52x84. i measured it when i received it when it didn't reach the floor. it measures 52x66. also the picture even zoomed in shows solid dark blue, the curtain i received was dark blue but with a circle design all over it. although nice, it is not the picture advertised. Hesitant to order again, as i am not sure i will actually get 52x84, one curtain or 2 and solid dark blue or dark blue with circles
