This powerful hedge trimmer (HT2500) from EGO has 25-inch double-sided blades (Laser Cut, Diamond Ground cutting blades) with a 1 1/4-inch cutting capacity, so you can quickly cut through even large branches on mature hedges, thick vines, or overgrown shrubs. The tool runs on a 56-volt, 2.5-amp-hour battery (sold separately) that provides up to 40 minutes of cutting time on a single charge. And with two speed settings—the maximum speed is 3,200 rpm—you can go faster when you need more cutting power, and slower when you want to extend battery runtime or you are carrying out more precise cuts.
The handle can be rotated 360 degrees and set at five different angles, so you'll be able to adjust it to reach awkward spots or carry out tricky cuts. An electric brake-stop cuts the tool's action off almost immediately for increased safety. The high-efficiency, brushless motor keeps the power coming until your yard work is done.
I like this hedge trimmer in that you need to have both hands on the device for it to work. I know I had gotten lazy with a prior hedge trimmer in the past and had some near mishaps. Two hands provides control but also a measure of safety. (this unit could easily cut off a finger placed foolishly on the blade while cutting.) You will also enjoy as well being able to rotate the cutting blade in multiple different angles which makes angling the hedges and side cutting much easier. The power is extreme and it cuts very large (1.2 inch!) branches without a problem. Decided the heavy duty HT2500 was worth the extra money over the HT2600 as it is heavier and runs at a lower slower speed even with the bushless motor being two speed. I would recommend this tool without hesitation. It might be a bit heavy (12.5 pounds) which may be a factor for some of the ladies out there but I feel the tool is well balanced and still manageable.
The HT2501 hedge trimmer by EGO is more expensive than the 26 inch model (HT2600) which is a little confusing. The HT2501 has a more powerful two speed motor an d slightly larger cutting capacity (1.25 inch vs. 1.2 inch for the HT2600) You will need to decide if the extra expense is worth it for you. I could tell the HT2500 was a heavier duty unit in every way. I'm counting on the higher purchase price of a beefier unit will result in being a "one and done" lifetime purchase. I am happy with my decision.

I was afraid they would’ve bundled in old 2nd gen battery
I checked reviews and almost ordered bare tool bc I didn’t want to get the old battery. I want all with fuel gauge on them 3rd gen. I ordered mines Aug 2024 and mines came with a 3rd gen with fuel guage on the battery. Ego must’ve been trying to get rid of old 2nd gen batteries and bundled them with this combo…but I was happy mines was a fresh bundle and I got the 3rd gen newest battery with the bars to tell me how much charge I have. I also used it and trimmed up small tree limbs and bushes it works like a charm. Definitely buy the one with the battery bundled. Little to no noise, great cut!
