iClever Himbox - Ever Clever Wire cutter's Pick: The Best Bluetooth Kits for Every Car Stereo According to the WIRECUTTER (Jan 9, 2015), iClever Himbox HB01 kit wins the competition because of its superb audio quality (as good as, or better than the rest of the competition) and mic performance, if your vehicle has an auxiliary input. And unlike our competitors models, which tend to be hardwired into their power supplies or they lack auto-connect features, Himbox can be used with any USB power source. iClever Himbox Bluetooth car kit is developed for easy installation in motor vehicles to enable hands-free operation. With this kit, you can use the car stereo system to enjoy the music saved in your cellphone and answer incoming calls without having to pick up your phone. As a plus bonus, this car kit is equipped with a dual USB port car charger, so while it is working you can have a digital device recharged at the same time. Other Features: - Auto-connect with the last paired device - Can also be used as a Bluetooth receiver to enable connection to ordinary loudspeaker with Bluetooth functionality. (Powered via USB port) - Automatically calls back the last outgoing call when the control button is quickly pressed twice. - Activate Siri when the control button is pressed for 1~2 seconds; Sometimes you will need to press the control button twice (a short-press to wake it up and then a long press for 1~2 seconds) Note - To connect this Bluetooth car kit to your car stereo system, your car stereo must have a 3. 5mm Aux-in jack. As a bonus for home entertainment, with this kit you may add Bluetooth connectivity to a loudspeaker that does not have Bluetooth functionality. Himbox Car Kit is backed by our 1 Year and 45 days Money Back . (Extra 15 days over standard 30day)

Good Solution for Cars without BlueTooth Audio
    4 out of 5 stars
Good Solution for Cars without BlueTooth Audio
This product represents a solid solution for cars that do not have BT audio. I bought this for my 2011 Mazda RX-8 with Bose audio, as the built-in system supports BT hands-free functions, but not audio streaming. The plan was to hide the device in the armrest, where I have a 12V power port and auxiliary input for the stereo system, since I do not need the hands-free functions. It should have worked flawlessly. It mostly did. The problem I encountered was that 12V port is always on in my car, and the USB charger for this device has a very bright LED in it, which draws quite a bit of power from the battery on a constant basis due to how my car is wired. You can see where this is going. The additional current draw from the charger and the BT device itself in sleep mode is enough to drain the battery in a week if the car is not driven. So, I had to find a charger without an LED (shown in the attached photo) to give me some insurance should I forget to reach inside the armrest and unplug the charger if I do not plan to drive the car for several days (like when leaving it at the airport). The extra step of unplugging the charger is an annoyance with which I had hoped to not have to deal with. I like set it and forget it solutions. I have never understood the reasoning behind making a car charger look like it is hailing the mother ship, and I'm pretty sure I have accidentally summoned ET's "people" on more than once occasion with this thing. I digress.Otherwise, the unit is working fine for audio streaming from my phone. Or, it is where the device itself is concerned. The sound quality is good enough. It is not CD quality, but BT audio never is, and once road noise and the Fletcher-Munson curve come into play, it really doesn't matter much. It still sounds better than plugging into the phone's headphone jack.It may or may not auto-connect to your phone. This feature works great with my Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia 920). It does not work with my Samsung Galaxy S5, and there seems to be no way to correct that short of bolting on apps to force the phone to behave the way it should naturally. So, I have to force the music player to connect via BT. Of course, that "feature" is not limited to BT audio. I have to force it to connect to everything, which seems to be a fault in Samsung's BT stack. If the device does not auto-connect to your phone, there is a good chance it is the fault of the phone.Obviously, I cannot comment on the hands-free functionality of the device, as I have not used it.One other comment that might be helpful to people is that the wiring is short enough that if I wanted to use for BT hands-free functions, I would need to purchase extension cords for both the USB power plug and the 3.5mm audio plug since my connections are in the armrest of the car. Otherwise, the wiring will not reach far enough to mount the device to the dash--even in a small sports car.All in all, I am happy with this purchase, and am considering purchasing a second one for my truck. Just as soon as I find another charger with no incredibly bright, distracting, battery killing LED in it, that is."Your device are disconnect."

I held off ordering this for almost a month because I thought it would be cumbersome. I was wrong. The setup out of the box took less than 2 minutes. The time to initially sync/pair with my phone took less than a minute. Off to a good start, I thought.
Using this product for music is seamless and fun. When listening to Amazon Prime music, for instance, it automatically pauses when the car is turned off, and then starts playing again when the car is turned back on (provided it wasn't off for more than an hour or two). Neat feature, and something that our car with built-in bluetooth does NOT do. I was very happy that the sound quality is top notch. Deep bass and no tinny sound.
Using this product for phone calls is fantastic. I've asked people that I talk to about my audio quality, and they are surprised to learn that I'm even driving in the first place. I've done this at 65+ on the freeway too. Audio quality is top notch.
The buttons on the device are large, firm, and work well. I can end calls, pause music, skip songs, etc. without looking.
The time to sync when starting the car is too quick to count. The engine is barely done starting when the sync sound is heard and ready to go.
The only negative (and it's barely a negative) is that if my wife starts the car to warm it up before I come out with my phone, then it doesn't sync up automatically, It's as though this device only sends out the sync signal upon first getting power. So, I have to go into my phone's bluetooth and click on the pairing choice for that vehicle. It's quick, but manual. This is not a common practice in my household, but if you have a vehicle with remote start it could be an issue.
This device DOES accept 2 phones, and pairs with one or both of them when the vehicle starts up.
My only wish for change with this device is that the AUX plug be at a 90-degree elbow, rather than straight on. Since some applications may prefer straight on, I wish it came with an adapter to make it 90-degrees because it sticks out from our dash, and could get bumped or broken. The small wires are nice (in my opinion) as I don't plan on moving this ever, and it makes for a clean install.
I will update this review should something go wrong in the future, but at this point, after 3 weeks of daily use, I have to say that I'm overly pleased with this device. The price is cheap, given how great it works. It syncs fast, has great audio for phone calls, and plays music with great sound.

    Update: One year after purchase
Thought some might like to know the longevity of this product. Well... it's still going strong. The original cell phone I paired with this is a different story, however. It got dropped and bit the dust. New phone paired up just as easily, though, and works just as well. I had initially been concerned with how thin some of the wires are on this device, but they've held up great. It still connects with my phone super fast, and works better than the factory bluetooth in our other car. This device has never failed, and I love the pause and skip song features when I'm playing my Amazon Prime Stations.

I have been using the Belkin bluetooth device for the past few years, and I have to say, it does work flawlessly with some minor quirks, but the sound was always loud and clear, both the audio and the phone. My only reason for change was I wanted to automatically connect when I start my car. I also had an issue with the iPhone 6 plus now and the Belkin, wherein I could not repeat a song or go back. So, yes, it got annoying.

I just tried the SoundBot and returned it because it had connection issues, would not automatically connect for me, and Siri caused the device to totally disconnect. So, bye bye to that.

My next move was to either try the Himbox or the Kinivo BTC450 or455. However, the Himbox HB01 had very favorable reviews, even though I was going to try the HB01 Plus model. The older HB01 just got better reviews. Here's my take on this gadget: It works flawlessly!!!! I can't believe that I finally automatically connect as soon as I start my Volvo C70 2008, which lacks bluetooth. All I do is hit PLAY and my music starts. Making a phone call is just as easy as Siri responds with a long press of the main button. I can answer a call with no problem, too.

I am really impressed with how great my music sounds, too. The only problem I do have is the phone volume is low, but once on my phone calls, the clarity is amazingly clear! I find that I have to raise the volume on my physical radio to hear my phone calls, and I can also raise the volume of the phone WHILE on the call itself by hitting the + button. But BEWARE! When the call ends, you must make sure to lower the volume on the radio or you will risk scaring yourself to death or blowing out your speakers because the volume, at least for me, is sooooooo loud!!!!

The device itself is actually attractive shiny black plastic and the buttons are very easy to access. I was trying to find the best place to put this without it being too far or in my way. I have it straight ahead on my dash next to my radio and right underneath my ignition. I did not peel the backing off the magnet disk yet, but instead mounted it using velcro in the event I decide to move its location. I really don't like gluing stuff to my dash, and I'm never thrilled about having wires all over the place either. However, in my Volvo, I had no problem hiding the wires due to the way there is a waterfall type of panel with a small storage area right behind it, so I buried the wires.

So far, no complaints at all, other than the loudness of the music after ending a phone call!

***Update*** After 1 year of use I am still very satisfied with this unit. I also have recommended one of my co-workers to buy one for his car as well as it has aux in but no bluetooth. I am very happy with its function, long pressing will launch google now so i can give it voice commands to call or play music, call quality has been very good

So I just received this yesterday and installed it in my car. I will update this review if anything goes drastically wrong with it but here are my initial thoughts.

The unit is small, feels well built, and was very easy to install and set up. The sticky 3m tape on the mount for the button stuck well to the dash area of my 2009 Hyundai Elantra.

I was hoping the cord would be ~3 meters so i could really route it up and put the remote by my head on the top of the driver A frame but it is more like 1.5-2ft. However with it stuck down by the stereo callers can hear me fine with the built in mic and it works well. Long press on the multi function button to launch google now to use voice commands.

I did one test call yesterday the auto quality was acceptable. Streaming music the sound quality is also acceptable. It auto connected no problems this morning after installing yesterday. It also is working with tasker on my Lg G4 to run some profiles like texting my wife when I leave work in the afternoon which I like :)

The only con I see is I wish the cables were longer but that is a minor complaint as I found a suitable mounting point where I could route the cables so they are unseen and won't get snagged

Overall I am very happy with this product. If it lasts 6 months + I would buy another if this one were to die or get broken. If I have any problems I will update this review. Way cheaper than a new head unit or a new car to add bluetooth to my existing car!
