Punches can be so tricky sometimes! I make a LOT of handcrafted greeting cards, and use a LOT of punches of various types. I tend to reuse the ones that punch the easiest -- and this one is getting a lot of use.
This one works well, and is fairly easy to punch. I've used it with heavy specialty paper (glitter card stock, for example), and much lighter patterned paper, and it works equally well for both -- the heavier paper takes a bit more pressure, of course, but it's not impossible.
THe square it punches is almost exactly 2" x 2" measuring the widest part of the flourish.
The bottom of this punch is open, so you can clearly see what you're punching, especially if you're trying to center a stamped sentiment or image.
Bottom line: good quality, cleanly cuts a variety of papers with reasonable effort.

Did not cut a clean edge on regular paper

I would really love to give this product a higher rating. But how can I? What it did on the edges makes it useless. I wasn't wanting the general shape of this, I was wanting a clean cut edge. And this was only the second paper I tried. The ONLY reason I didn't put it at 1 star is that it did cleanly punch the cardstock I tried. Just not regular paper. Otherwise, it looks and feels great. Very sturdy. Such a sad waste for me.
