It also works quite well with my 16GB SDHC card.
The main thing I like about it is that it handles SDHC (4GB or larger) cards perfectly, and it works great with Linux, with even the LED shutting off when the reader is given the eject command.
That last point is a bit niggling, but it really is nice to see that this manufacturer has hardware that works so well with the "red-headed stepchild" of operating systems, as almost no other makers produce readers that do that.
I would definitely buy more of these if I get more high capacity cards.
Great deal, great performance, great reliability.
A little background here: both my notebook PC and my MacBook Pro have built-in SD card readers, but for whatever reason, both had failed about 40 to 50% of the time when I tried to use the internal ports. Had reasonable luck with an older card reader, the Mini All-in-1 Memory Card Reader, which had been purchased a couple of years back for use with a tower PC running Windows XP, but had misplaced its USB cable for awhile, so the solution was to find a small, compact, reliable card reader that would function reliably 100% of the time... and this ELAGO USB High Speed Memory Card Reader/Writer has done just that. It has protective dust caps on both the USB 2.0 end and over the card slot as well... a nice touch.
It should be noted that my personal needs were primarily to use this card reader with the following software apps on both a notebook PC running Windows 7 and a MacBook Pro running OS X:

Only complaint is I needed a six inch long USB extension cable to make it fit my USB slot... the shape of this card reader did not allow me to fully insert the unit.
When I was troubleshooting last night (take a pic, check with camera, check with internal SD reader on laptop, then finally check with card reader) it froze my machine and forced a reboot when I plugged it in.
Don't trust this reader with pictures of your newborn son in the hospital (like I did). Run far, far away.
After MANY hours of exhaustive testing I can confidently report that these do not work consistently. Mine were OK for a while and then started getting errors. This took so long to diagnose because I thought my SD card was bad, or my hub, or my computer's drivers. But after lots of experimenting with different cards, different hubs, different computers the common element whenever I had trouble turned out to be these adapters. I bought an IOGEAR GFR204SD adapter and it works much better.
Also, after a few days use, one of them literally fell apart in my hand. They are made of cheap flimsy plastic not well fastened together.
Finally, be aware that the adapter is a little fatter and wider than the USB slot itself so if you have 2 USB ports above and below or side by side you might not be able to fit something in the other USB slot at the same time.
They are very fast. This surprised me: copying an SD card through this USB adapter is AS FAST OR FASTER than copying the card directly through the SD card reader built in to my computer! I had expected the USB channel to be slower but I copied a full 30GB of video (the SD card doesn't REALLY hold 32GB) in 28 minutes 23 seconds using this adapter and 29 minutes 40 seconds using my computer's built in SD reader, so this was actually more than a minute FASTER!
