The EMG-35DC, with its modern appearance is actually a product of 30+ years of design experience. Reproducing an extended range cleanly - both higher AND lower - taxes the abilities of conventional pickups. In the EMG-35DC, we have succeeded in getting this extended range by utilizing an ultra low noise, low-impedance internal preamp, paired with ceramic loaded dual parallel coils that result in an extremely versatile unit that can be used for just about anything from the cleanest highs right down to the dirtiest growling lows. This model uses an extended housing that is 3.5 inches (89mm), perfect for four string spacing’s. See why musicians worldwide are raving about their DC’s!

Got the pickup, and it couldn't have been easier. I'm not sure if Greg Guy received a different product than I did, but the pickup comes with everything you need: wiring kit, input jacks, pots, etc. Go to EMG's site for the 35DC, they include a picture of the entire kit it comes with. The instructions it came with couldn't have been clearer. They include different details for your specific set up as well (multiple pickups, multiple tone controls, etc). The instructions are included on the EMG website as well, under 'Product Data Sheets'.
It only took me about an hour all in all from start to finish; and it took me that long largely because I had to drill out the hole from the pickup to the rear panel, which was a little awkward to do (was lazy and didn't want to pull the strings off). Not a huge issue, just that the plastic connectors on the ends of the wires was a little bigger than the hole for the previous wires. Two very minor cons: a) The knobs I have now don't fit so I'll have to get new ones (oh well, they were boring anyway!), and b) it didn't come with any springs/tubing for the screws. Both of these were WAY offset by the awesome sound.
Overall, wonderful pickup!
Bottom line, not worth the hassle. Even if you don't know wiring, buy the Seymours and pay someone $50 to wire it for you... or learn to solder.
I like the DC for the metallic sound, It is a bit brittle for a neck pickup as others have stated, but I use my Spector for metal and hard rock and the DC works well with several overdrive.
For a more traditional and classic sound in the try a EMG CS with a DC. With a 2 or even 3 band EQ, the results are very impressive.
