These seemed like they would be high quality jack stands. In some respects they are and in some ways, not.
Towards the top range of the jack height, they are very wobbly. I would almost say unsafe. The center post has too much play compared with other jacks that cost way less. (I have a pair of cheap stands I bought in the 90s and the tolerance between the center post and stand assembly is a 'friction fit' that does not allow movement.) When I saw this I was extremely disappointed at how much I paid.
The base is not quite wide enough. If you are using these stands on a vehicle, make sure that you orient the bases 180 degrees from each other, otherwise, the stands could tip. I assumed a three-legged stand would be appropriate, but given the first problem, these should be 4-legged stands and/or a wider base for the maximum height.
The stands are just about the right height - but as others have pointed out, the locking pin is a bit awkward to use. I would suggest a pin with a large fixed ring would be easier to insert and pull the pin out when adjusting the height.
I think this design is outdated for the cost as well. I think it would be better to buy a pair of stands that have the ratchet for positioning and a locking pin to put in place to secure the height.
Next steps... I am going to fashion a sleeve to slip over the center post that limits the amount of side-movement. Spray paint one of the legs so I remember to point it at a front or rear wheel to avoid tipping danger. Then use these as a 'spotter' jack stand and find a better pair to rely on for the primary job.
