I normally play bass, but wanted a guitar so I could work on songs i'm writing, as well as hopefully get my wife to play again so we could play together.
I ordered an amp and it came in the same day as the guitar. For the purposes of the review, I just tuned up the guitar with the strings it came with. I did order strings that I will swap out soon. This guitar sounds beautiful clean and distorted. The switch for the pickups works beautifully, though I will leave it in the middle for the balanced tone. The intonation is great, but there is slight fret buzz, so I'll have to redo the intonation after adjusting the neck a touch. It has great fast action, and the neck is good and thin. I'm not worried about that changing with the adjustments as the fret buzz is very slight.
The guitar, knobs, switch, and tuners all feel good and solid. For the price, this thing is definitely a gem (I got it for $189 and would have no qualms paying twice as much. Thank you ESP for such a great deal!!!!!

Upon opening the box, the guitar itself is very well packaged, packed inside the included gig bag with the strings being wrapped in paper too, and polystyrene in all the relevant places and plastic covering on the pickups.
After taking out the guitar and tuning, it was a bit hit and miss tbh but, after a few days of playing and retuning, it all seems to have settled in very well and, no need for intonation or anything else and, compared to the Vintage SG copy I was playing, the action and the overall feel for the price, cannot be overstated!! The neck is much thicker and well rounded and the action is very low with no buzzing frets all the way up and down!!
I am by no means a good player, began 25 years ago and stupidly didn't stick at it!? Well, I am determined to now, and, I feel this guitar, it is going to ensure that I do!!!
In terms of sound, I have paired it with the Orange Micro Dark and the matching 8inch cab and it sounds killer!! Especially with an Overdrive pedal!!
In short, if you are serious about getting in to playing, regardless of style, I cannot recommend this guitar enough!! The nearest I have had is an Epiphone LP bought 2nd hand from Johnny Roadhouse in Manchester but, that was 1999, and the quality of this is equally as good!!
I was going to aim for the 256 in Satin Black after some saving but, this for me needs is perfect!!! Do not want to splurge on a guitar that will only cry itself to sleep because I am unable to play it the way it was intended!!!!
Excellent, 5 stars!!!
It's an awesome guitar for the money. Plenty of weight about it and a fantastic sound.
Now the two things that have just upset me. One of which has pissed me off somewhat.
The inlays on the twelfth fret arent the same as the photo (not really an issue I know). But the main one is the price I paid. It was listed at £147 prior to me ordering. Then when I ordered it shot up to £173. After I purchased I went straight back to £147. I would like an answer, but doubt I'll get one. By the way, I never moan about anything but this ain't right.
Anyway, a great guitar to suit all levels. Worth the buy, regardless of yo-yo prices.
